Sea Fishing Day Trips

Post by womsley »

Hi, can anybody give me direction on finding good sea fishing trips in and around Hua Hin? Where are the best places to go to sort an operator?

Looking for some quality fishing with some quality fishing gear on a nice boat.

Any advice gratefully received...

There's a local guy (I think his name is Kuhn A) who owns one of the restaurants on the beach south of Takiab who runs sea fishing trips. His boat is moored on the beach by the restaurant if you want to check it out.

No idea what it's like, but he's very persuasive if you've stopped off for some scoff and a beer! Good scoff too.

thanks, I'd seen that - been lurking for a week or so.

I was wondering if they were the only deal in town or if there were other options to look into...?

Hi Womsley

There is no really good quality sea fishing around Hua Hin.

I'd love to tell you there is but anyone (boat owner or otherwise) who tells you different is having you on.

Having said that, we run all-day sightseeing/fishing cruises on our 70 ft boat.
We can certainly offer a good quality boat and we do have a few sets of good quality rods and reels.

What we normally catch is a mixture of snapper, grouper, selago, bream etc. up to about 1ft long.

However, we have also been getting some 2 - 4 pound sweetlips lately.
The biggest challenge at the moment, though, is that we regularly see a small shoal of 10 - 12 pound copias and although they've been hooked a good few times, nobody has managed to land one onboard yet.

If you want any more info, just let me know.
