Does anyone know where to buy bamboo? I want to make a fence and I need bamboo 1 to 2 inches in diameter six foot long pieces round or split in half etc. Maybe 20 or 30 such pieces. Maybe an already woven fence?
I have not been able to locate where this item might be sold. It seems to fall somewhere between the flower/garden stores and the lumber yards. . neither of which stocks this stuff.
It is certainly grows in abundant supply around Hua Hin and in Thailand, but I dont see myself going out with a machete and cutting what I need. . .even if I found a place where I could do that.
I toured the wet market this morning with no luck. . .I saw only the place that weaves baskets and chicken coops which always seems to be closed.
(And yes, I DID do a search on the HHAD website first and just kept getting every post ever made by Bamboo Grove!)

There is a plant shop on the way to Pan Buri from Hua Hin on your left hand side, you con't miss it as it sells rather over grown trees. It's right next to a wood whole sale shop. I was there last month and seem to remember seeing bamboo there. It's about half way to Pan Buri.
Why is it called 'after dark' when it really is 'after light'?
Chas, bamboo is strangely hard to find around Hua Hin. I know this because my neighbour asked me the exact question last year when he wanted to build a garden shelter. I told him I would try to find him some as I drove around the area, but I couldn’t see any for sale anywhere.
I can only surmise this is because nobody buys the stuff in Thailand; in the countryside, where they still use it a lot, it’s grows for free and in the city nobody wants it. You must be able to get it somehow; perhaps you could pay someone to go out and cut some.
It’s a pity that you weren’t looking for bamboo when we built our house in Nong Ki as it took a couple of days to remove an immense thicket of it that must have been about ten meters high.

Earlier this year I wanted to buy some bamboo and it was a total mission!
Eventually I found a place which has all different lengths and sizes.
Drive up the Pala-U road for about 5 km I reckon and you will see this place on the right hand side (if you're coming from Hua Hin). It's just before a bend in the road. I think there is a school opposite.
