Hello

Post by canthai »

I too am in the process of building a house in HH. Should be completed in October. I will be heading out to Thailand then to furnish the home. Will use the house for vacation purposes in January to escape Canada's cold winters. The first time I was in HH was back in 1985 very quiet place back then. I like the changes and find HH to be a great place to kick back. Hope to see and meet a few of you in HH in the not to distant future.

Hi all, this is my first post. I've been reading the site on and off for a couple of weeks.

Who am I? Australian born guy aged 42. Lived in Thailand for 1 year 6 months

I currently live in Bangkok. For a couple of weeks now my gf and I have been thinking about moving out of Bangkok, so I thought why not check out hh. I've never been there before so this site is proving to be very helpful. Probably make a visit next weekend. God I miss the beach!!!!

Cheers all

Hi folks.
I'm a 30 year old Norwegian (Not many of us in Hua Hin).
I've been to HH two times now and to Pattaya/Jomtien two times. I'm looking for a condo in Hua Hin and plan to be coming back every second month the whole year through.

There are some Norwegians in Cha Am, though. Paradise Corner at the northern end of the Beach Road run by Rogeir (from Bergen) and Pim and Norwegian Bakery (can't remember the name) at the bus station run by Rune (Tromso) and Ang.

There are some Norwegians in HH as well - mainly living here, rather than with a business.
Since Farmor was Nowegian, I guess I'm about 25% Viking as well.

I first visited Thailand about 20 years ago while I was in the USN.
I have been thinking about retiring to HH and your site here has made the decision a lot easier.
Look for me there within the next 2 years. It has to be saner there than here in the US right now.

Hi... Visitng HH for the first time, in Sep 2005. [edited by Admin] I am self employed and wish to work out of Thailand.. so my wife will stay in Thailand whilst I travel to various parts of the globe, returning to Thailand every 2/3 months for a 2 week break..
This site has been an excellent form of information, thank you all...
Is there an expat club or meeting place in HH ???
I will post again after my visit to HH in Sep...

Property in Hua Hin

Post by StevieC »

Hi, I am based in Scotland and make regular trips to Thailand, always making a trip down to Hua Hin for a week or so. Myself and a friend are coming to Hua Hin in December for New Year celebrations. Will there be anything special happening? Also my friend is looking to purchase some property in Hua Hin. On my last visit I noticed a lot of new built houses on the way in to the shooting range, about 4kms north of town. Does anyone know what price these will be selling at, assuming they have not all been bought up already?
Many thanks in advance. Look forward to reading any replies.

Evenin'all. Arrived in HH nearly a year ago. Liked it so much we'd bought property here within 4 days! But still looking for some sailing action here. The recent regatta was the first time I've seen a sail on the water. I'm trying to decide whether to go for something to sail from the beach, or something a little larger (e.g. a Wharram Catamaran). Would like to hear the thoughts of any other would-be sailors here, or those in the know about local conditions, builders, etc.

Hi everyone,
I'm from North Europe, Estonia and looking for the place in LOS to have nice beach vacation without too much rain in the beginning of October 2005.
Have been many times in Phuket , so I'm really looking to the closest future to be familiar with Hua Hin feeling.
I guess that this is different compared to Phuket and most probably I will like it.

But - recently surfing in the forum messages I found disturbing post - is there any trouble with sea water in Hua Hin beaches?
And how frequent are yellyfishes? :guns:

I'm not sure what you mean with trouble. The water isn't as clean as it is Phuket but it's not dirty. There are four major rivers bringing silt into the Gulf of Thailand and on this side of the bay it hasn't quite settled down yet. Jellyfish are an occasional hazard particularly after the rainy season but nothing to be too worried about.

Hi thank You for really fast answer!

If the sea water is not that bad as in Pattaya, then everything is O.K.
Could You recommend any particular beach, so I can start for looking accommodation possibilities close to this beach ( I do not rent a scooter or car - left hand traffic is a disaster for me - , but will have some Singha beers daytime and walk peacefully to the beach and back again - so beach should be on walking distance :D )
