hi to you all,
arriving in jan 08 for 3 months from the uk,this last few weeks the value of the baht has been dropping to the pound.have been thinking of the best way of getting a good exchange,at the moment i think i will bring a nationwide current card with me(no charge to withdraw cash)& exchange when i get over there.the current rate is only about 60 baht-to the pound back in england.can anyone tell me the current bank rate in hua hin?
Exchange rates have dropped somewhat (about 3 BBHT to GBP over past week.
As you said, best bet is to use your Nationwide card, they do seem to be up there with best rates all the time plus the no charge for ATM/Credit card
Try not to get too exercised about things over which you have no control.
The rate will be what it is the day(s) your transactions occur.
The rate differences between banks/ATMs isn't much, just look around for the rate you think is best though I wouldn't go from one end of town to the other because one bank gives 68.23 and the others give only 68.18.
DO NOT buy baht outside Thailand, rates will be awful no matter what bank.
Sandman,
If the election was causing the Baht to be depressed it would be the other way around.
The Baht is still pretty strong. Western currencies dipped a bit last week because of the depressed stock market but they are currently regaining a bit of ground.
just to say thanks to those who replied about the currency exchange (very much appreciated).not much difference between the banks in which you have stated.not long to wait now,it's been around freezing point for the last fortnight!! just a bit above that in hua hin eh ?

Stick with Nationwide and draw money from any ATM over here.
I think that you were looking at offshore rates.
Over 5 years here and never paid a baht in bank charges.
Onlyme.
Yes looks like the pound is taking a battering, down 3+ Baht in a week. Not seen it this low since Taksin did the dirty. Some forcasters are saying that the pound is in deep shite and could go down big time. I hope not as I know many of us rely on money from the UK.
I've just done a check after reading your post Jimmy. I'm pleased to say that its still better than the rate I was getting in Apr 06. Personally, it looks no more than normal fluctuation to me .............. at the moment.
