Apprenticeship in Thailand ?

Post by marsh »

Hi People,
I hope I'm posting this on the correct forum,

In Thailand does any of the up and comming Tradespersons take an
apprenticeship of sorts, go to college and sit exams/ assessments for their future professions, like as in the west, e g electricians, plumbers,
carpenters, painters, bricklayers, plasterer etc.??---Just curious.

Unlikely, employing foreigners has become increasingly difficult in Thailand over the past few years.

Additionally there is a whole list of restricted activities, more info here:

You maybe better off trying to get a student visa and enrolling on a course at one of the local unis.

I don't think marsh is talking about foreigners buksi, but I don't know the answer, although i would imagine there are qualifications and apprenticeships for Thais, but whether they are necessary for someone to set themselves up as a plumber, electrician etc is unlikely. I am curious to know why you are curious marsh? Are you thinking of setting something up?

There are Vocational Trade College`s, at least in Bangkok. But they are best known for their ability to kill / maim students from competing Colleges.

Apprentices again

Hi There,
Yes I was wondering if the local Thai person had to 'Qualifiy' in
what-ever trade or profession he or she choose.

Is there something similar to our Further Education system here whereby
young people work with their employer and take lessons or hands-on
tution from profesionals at College, maybe on a block release system
or a couple of days a week.------I'm just curious as to how their set-up
works in Thailand.

Cheers marshy
