Women on HHAD

Post by Firkin »

Other than DawnHHDRC and Oe I was wondering how many women post regularly on HHAD and how many actually live in Hua Hin?

Firkin,

It may be a strange over-reaction, but it seems to be a strange thing to be asking. Surely, one of the benefits of a forum like this is the anonymity it offers.

If I tell you that I am a woman, living in Hua Hin:

1. How will you know that I'm not lying?

2. What would your follow up question be?

Surely, those who want you to know will make it obvious anyway.

BB,

Firkin has a good reason to ask. The question isn't untoward. :)

Firkin, there are about half a dozen regular female posters that I know of. Some you can tell by their names, Vital Spark won't mind me saying she's a woman, as she's made it clear herself. I do know of others that you wouldn't be able to tell by their names, but I'm not sure how they feel about the forum as a whole knowing they're women, so I won't say who they are. I'd say 6-10 regulars and a few more occasional posters are women.

Hi BB

Nice picture!!

May I ask you a question? As you said this kind of site offers anonymity to its posters, so I am unsure which one is you? :lach:

I don’t feel my question was an untoward one, we are thinking of moving to Hua Hin in a couple of years and I was just curious how farang women find living in Hua Hin?

But I am happy to receive replies from any sex :D

Hi Firkin

almost any internet BB offers a modicum of anonymity; however with the HHAD board most of the regular posters do have an idea of who is who. Although an infrequent visitor myself, I do run into a couple of posters on the weekends I do make it down, and make it a point to drop by at least a couple of the sponsored bars for a beer or three.

As Dawn has pointed out, it is sometimes more a matter of etiquette than anything else. I think at one time there used to be a ladies-only category that eventually died out?

Cheers

I am quite sure that Firkin's question was not untoward, and that he/she had good reason for asking it. However, the question on its own, without further explanation of why etc made me suspicious of his or her motive in the first place.

Don't worry - probably just me having a bad day

Don’t worry BB

We all have bad days, I have one most days! :banghead:

I should have put a better explanation as to why I was asking the question in the 1st place.

Hi Firkin,

Are you a large quantity of beer? If so, I'll have a half... :D

As Dawn quite rightly said, I'm one of the female members.

Most of the posters on the site are male, because the large majority of English speakers living in Thailand are male. Parahandy - my husband also writes on here occasionally.

We're certainly in the minority, which doesn't bother me the least.

Farang women in Hua Hin

Post by huahindolly »

Hi Firkin,

Welcome to Hua Hin virtually - and soon in person, it seems.

There are quite a few farang women living and working in Hua Hin, though I'm not sure how many hang out on HHAD. There's a book club, bridge, yoga, lunch and coffee groups. Haven't found any tennis or scrabble or wine tasting groups, but I'd bet they exist.

I hope I have the opportunity to meet you when you're here - let me know!
