After a number of years here, I can pretty much guarantee that you'll go crazy watching cable TV in HH.
Maybe satalite is better. I don't know - I'm on this computer too much
Probably books.

There are others that can answer your question much better than this, but i'll have a sangsom fulled stab...
When in Hua Hin I had the standard cable package, cheap and ok. You get ABC Asia pacific (aussie soaps and a few doc's), Euro sport news, BBC world news, 2 x film and some music channels.. bla bla bla, you get the drift. If you want more there is UBU (now True Colours) which offers films and sport etc, via satallite, but at a price. I believe the basic price is about 1000 bht per month rising to nearly 2000 bht per month for the full sport monty.
My view is that living in a country where the weather is so good why would you want to watch TV? I personally have managed to ween myself off the goggle box. It was not easy at first, but achievable. I buy about 5 DVD's a month and find that enough (ish)
My saving grace is my PC, and God help the weener that tries to stop me using it... :cuss:

UBC/True offers different packages. I have the cheapest one as I don't watch movies that much & don't like sport. It's 905 bt a month & has 4 movie channels, a kids channel, a couple of series type channels & others such as the BBC entertainment (but not news - that's up a step), a couple of music channels, History channel, and a few others.

They don't have Pop Idol, but do have American Idol & no dancing on ice, but no Eastenders or any Brit soaps, either. If you fancy the Bold & the Beautiful, My Sweet Valentina (??) or General Hospital, though - you're in luck! :P

Just had the UBC (True Visions) gold package put in. At least 6 movie channels but they tend to repeat the films a lot and they are heavily censored with pixelated guns, cigarettes, alcohol bottles and nudity. They don't censor the cartoon network or animal planet yet though!

I have just been to the UK for a break and had fully intended to watch Corrie and Enders at least once. In the end I didn't watch either, didn't even see Vera Duckworth pass way.

I've often seen it advertised on terrestial (sp) TV here in the UK that if you miss certain programmes (soaps are the ones that I've noticed) they are available to watch on-line on your PC for the next week. I've often wondered if that would be an option when I retire to Thailand.

Has anybody considered/tried it?

After the success of the Office, Ricky Gervais has come up with another gem in EXTRAS.

BB. That's true what you say about programs that you can watch online. However, the big snag is that you have to be in the UK. Not available outside. I tried it and that's the message that came back. You're IP address gives it away. Not sure whether it would work with a proxy address.

If I were you I would just stop watching the damn thing. In Thailand I have some cable thing, but I never watch it as my partner has to keep up on the Thai soaps.
Here at work, in my hotel in Luxembourg I have 42 channels of which two are supposed to be in English.
One of these is MTV and the other is CNN so you can either watch hip-hop or someone like Mick Romney pretending he could be the next President.
Basically you can either go to bed early or go down the pub of which the latter choice is by far the most recommended.
Or you could watch Scooby-do in Thai which would be more entertaining than Mick Romney!

Are you trying to create your own cyberspace soap drama? Vera Duckworth will never die! The actress who plays her might have though? Don't tell me Jack's still alive? I think Corrie should have been morphed into cartoon format years ago. As for Eastenders - Yer havin' a laff!
