Exit tourist visa payment now 700 bhat??

Hello There,

Do you still pay 500 Bhat on exit from the airport ? I am told it has
increased to 700 !! any truth in this ?

PP,

It has increased to 700Baht - quite some time ago actually. However, this tax should be included with the cost of your flight ticket nowadays.

I think it was introduced on 1 Jan 07. Instead of paying your 500 Baht per person as you left the country, all airlines (I think) started wrapping the charge up inside the taxes that they charge. I also think the charge increased to 700 Baht at about the same time.

It certainly gets rid of the bother to remember to keep X amount of Baht back for the airport when you're on holiday

On our trip last year we didn't pay at the airport, it was included in our ticket price with Thai Airways. I fully expected to have to pay again, but we sailed through without problem.

If you look at you ticket its shown - most are E-ticket now and easier to see on the printout

Hey:
The exit price has nothing to do with the airlines you use.
This is a THAI controlled fee to cover the expenses on Thai soil, (security, and handling of your aircraft).
IATA wants better security and who do you think should pay?

Certainly for the last two or three times Iâ€™ve been back through Bangkok Iâ€™ve not paid the 500 baht on departure.

And Iâ€™ve just checked on a ticket I bought the other day, and there is a separate tax charge of 13.55 euros which is about 700 baht.

The "departure tax" of 700Bt (previously 500) is nowadays always included in the price of your ticket (since about 1 year), and you do not need to cough up extra money when leaving. However, the lines at the passpotr control at the airport are getting longer and longer, so be there on time anyway...

Its been 700 for quite some time now and is in your ticket price (pretty well every proper airport now does it that way). It saves fumbling about for your last few baht as you head back to paradise.
