Budget Car Hire

Post by caller »

Don't know whether it's the laptop I'm using or whether their website in LOS really is crap, but I'm trying to sort out the hire of a basic car for 2 adults and one sprog to get me from Korat to Hua Hin via Dolphin Bay - basically, 5 days hire.

As far as I can see, they are the only 'national' that have an office in Korat, but when I use their website, it seems unable to provide a quote for the journey and there is, wait for it, no email contact point!

I guess there must be some from here who have used their office in Hua Hin?

Does anyone have an email address for them (I think there will be more chance of an English speaker at Hua Hin)?

Thanks

caller,

I used them twice during my last visit - very helpful, and absolutely no hassle - a very professional service. Was even 30 minutes late returning the vehicle one time- didn't even mention it.

Thanks BB - but their site only works if you want to stay in the one location. It goes belly-up if you use a different start and end place. I emailed them my requirments, but they got that belly-up as well!

Anyway, change of plans. Will get to Korat by bus from Bkk (I would rather a leisurely train ride, but the missus doesn't, but I'll work on her) and hire locally for just over a week, which is already arranged via recommendations from the local forum.

I will also hire locally in Hua Hin which I'm still working on.

From Korat to Hua Hin, I was thinking of using the new bus service between the two. Cost is about 400 baht and it takes (allegedly) about 5 hours. Just wondered if anyone has used this service? Here's the website (in Thai). Lot's of photo's of a nice shiny bus (it might be a bit slow loading) -

Two words of warning caller (I'm sure you're aware anyway) - there are a lot of 'cheap' deals available locally, but make sure that you're properly covered by their insurance. I looked at several last year, but wasn't too convinced the insurance was legit, neither was I convinced that the cars were in A1 condition either.

Just think, before you commit yourself.

The one's I've looked at in HH aren't much cheaper, apart from with slightly older vehicles, and one appears to be more expensive than the nationals!

I'm looking between Hua Hin Car rental, Diamond (referred by here) and Avis, unless anyone can tell me otherwise?

For what I want, Avis are cheaper than budget who I really can't be bothered with anymore! Just irked me about the website and whilst no doubt well intentioned, I just can't be bothered to explain my email request (again).
