Who does a good CCC in HH?

I do three different varieties. But sadly, just for my own consumption...

Not to be found in Thailand, I'm afraid, unless Villa Market or somewhere like that.

It's been twenty years and I still can't get my wife to touch a bean of any kind.

Thai's know of red beans which are used for desert, and those little black ones which I think are primarily used for Chinese sauces.

I have never seen any other kind of dry bean here.

If you're thinking of Chili without beans I haven't seen any of that either.

I love Lima beans and Great Northern whites and Kidney beans......haven't found a trace of any of them. You can find pork and beans and Heinz vegetarian porkless beans in the foreign food section at Tesco.....oh, and the British baked beans, but that's all I've ever seen.

Good luck and please share if you actually find any other kinds.

Not so many dried, but you can get red kidney beans, garbanzo beans (chick peas), Lima beans and various others in cans easily in HH.

Have not found a good one in 12 years here with or without beans . Texas or mexico for chilli and Thailand for tom yam I suppose .

The little supermarket in the shopping mall (not Tesco!) - the one next to Satukarn Square in the centre of Hua Hin.

Walk along the isle to the end of the foody bit - when you see the doggy bit (collars, food etc.) turn right and (against the side wall) you'll find lots of beans. Red kidney beans, black beans, chick peas, etc. Parahandy makes the most amazing chilli con carne with beef from the wet market and beans from the supermarket. You can also use these beans to make 're-fried beans' which are absolutely delicious. Forget buying expensive canned stuff - you can buy the local stuff much more cheaply.

By the way, I don't cook anything. Parahandy is the master chef. I'm sure he'd be happy to pass on some recipes if you so require. (He's also a Scot, so he finds the cheapest, best quality stuff in the area!)

Kidney beans can be found in Tesco, the old Shopping Mall supermarket & The Royal Print Supermarket (next to Western Tours) in DamnernKasem Rd. That Royal Print Supermarket usually has the Garbanzo beans and another couple of varieties of beans also (ie lima). Occasionally you can get different types of beans in Mini Farm shop as well.

HH Simon: Sorry to confirm Dawn's clarification. Parahandy is indeed my husband and we live in the sticks about 35Km west of Hua Hin. He loves cooking as much as I hate it - so he is the master chef.

Many people have suggested that he should start his own restaurant, but, as he quite rightly points out, that would take the fun out of cooking. Oh, and he said that he doesn't put kidney beans (or any beans) in his CCC - he has a secret ingredient that comes out of a long slim bottle (red), and he doesn't mince the beef, he just chops it extremely finely. Re-fried beans go really well with it (these are the cheap kidney beans from the supermarket).
