Hua Hin kite festival 2008

Post by Procyon »

Does anybody know when and where this is supposed to take place?, it is meant to be on this month but as usual there is very little promotion or information about it.

Thanks for any info in advance.

Hi there.
I read somewhere a week or so ago that the festival is on the 10th of
this month and is at the palace (forgotten the damn long name)
between HH and Cha-am.
I may even be right in saying its at the same venue as last year...?
No doubt following threads can boost the info I have for you here.

Buksi,

Some impressive kites and very colourful - thank you.

In the programme published above it said
11. Balloon Show
As I didn't see any balloons in the photos, I was wondering what kind of balloons they were.

I know whenever my family have visited us in the UK, they have always been very impressed by the Bristol Balloon Fiesta, and I've always got the impression such events don't take place in Thailand.

Nereus,

That's the kind of thing I was expecting, but in Bristol they have maybe 150+ taking to the sky at the same, and include many special shapes.

I would have thought that if they had something similar in Hua Hin, then Buksida would have found it necessary to photograph a few.

They were inflating one of these just as we were leaving the festival this afternoon around 5:00. I have never seen one here in Thailand but have been to many such festivals over the years. They are an amazing sight when you see dozens taking off together. Dont know if this one was tethered or not though. You are at the mercy of the winds after all and it seems like landing might be a problem around here. . say in a pineapple field or the sea or something.

Thank you for the information, I would not have known about this event if it was not for HHAD.
