It's just a thought that might give you a piece of mind while you are away and trying to get through your problems.

Change the locks on your house. Go down to the police station talk to the police chief. Explain your situation. For 1000 bath a month they will come and look at your house three times a day. Of course it goes against western principles to pay the police but as you are finding. Nothing comes for free in Thailand.

Suggest you get a document drawn up in Thai and English by a lawyer which basically says that you have both agreed to end your relationship and have agreed a sum of Baht 300,000 payable by you to her to settle all outstanding issues between the two of you. Agreement covers all issues including her moving out of the house and never returning.

When she signs the agreement, she gets the money you have already agreed to pay her.

As Hobiecat says "Nothing comes for free in Thailand" this is one of does examples.

Plenty of good advice have already been given. However, how do you make a difference between a good family and not good family. Is a family with lots of money always good or vice versa? There are plenty of rich people and I wouldn't call them all good.

To add a new twist, how do you know she's not staying there with her Thai husband while you're not there, and that he isn't too far away? Hence the tantrums, but she still keeps coming back because she/they want(s) the easy money? Hiring a PI might be an idea. The police aren't too concerned with domestic problems until somebody dies.

The Thai husband in the background is more feasible than you think. Go read the articles on Stickmanbangkok.com for more horror stories.

I think it's imperative in any long term relationship to know their background and the same goes for her

A visit to the family often gives you body language signs of their opinion of you and the circumstances. Go and spend some time there to know where she is coming from

Also helps if you can get a feel for her education, previous employment, previous liaisons. The latter being difficult but not impossible if you can hack into the Thai network.

Be firm as well in spelling it out up front what are T&C's

Rose tinted glasses don't help though

Problems will happen in relationships regardless of family wealth, background or education - no person is perfect so none of it really matters.

It is how you deal with the bad times that matters sorry I cannot offer any constructive advice apart from sleep with one eye open "hell hath no fury like a woman scorned".
