Outrageous inflation

Post by lomuamart »

About a year ago, I could get 3 large bottles of Chang at my local shop for 100 Baht. Then it went to 105. Then to 110 and NOW. Just been there to stock up for the day and it's 120 for 3. A 20% increase in a year - outrageous!! I'm seriously thinking of moving on
Seriously though, it's still good value, but an inflation rate of 20% a year on my favourite tipple?

I, too, was crying in my beer when it went to 110.
Don't know what I'll do now... gun, pills or slit my wrists?

large singha in Tesco up by 1.6 baht (now 46 bht).
Take more than 1.6 baht to stop me drinking it !!
Large Singha in supermarket in Uk is best part of 2.5 gbp (158 baht) so I think I'll stick around here

I think maybe things are getting out of perspective, yes inflation is rampant and beer may have increased in price 20% in the last year but ... its been 100 baht for three big Changs for the last ten years so call it 2 baht a year and the figure seems more reasonable!

Also I wish people would stop saying how much more expensive things are in farangland ... salaries are also far more than what locals and some expats make here so its all relative.

There has been a fair bit on Thai TV lately about the increase in the price of pork, of course the genius of a PM Thailand now has said "Why don't they eat chicken" when questioned about it by press.

Back to beer thou ... Archa and Red Horse are like drinking any of the regular beers after they've been left open for two days and had the fag buts sieved out of them! Why cant we get Beer Lao here, that stuff rocks!

All the talk on UK tv at the moment is also about inflation. Just this minute on the news talking about wheat grain. 2006 =70 quid a ton 2007 =120 quid a ton Now 188 quid a ton. That's on top of all the petrol talk, falling pound, house prices down. Credit problems. Poles etc etc etc

Hellp Buksida

Beer Lao is to be imported to Thailand in the year 2011 but it was originally put on Sale this year, but it was delayed by the Lao PDR Govermemt for whatever reason I can't remember. Ahhh did any of Y'all remeber the Beer called Mittweida released by Singha Beer Comp. in the early 2000's?
