Closest Snorkeling site from Hua Hin?

Is there a place we can go snorkeling/diving not too far from Hua Hin? Like approx 1-2hrs driving away?? I've heard somewhere called Ko Talou? But not sure..

I'm no expert, but have been to Koh Talu and it's off the coast of Bang Saphan which is a two hour drive south (3 hours odd by bus).
Others will be able to give you chapter and verse about snorkeling there. I just went along for the ride!!

Good excuse to visit Bang Saphan. Stay at Suan Luang (Coral resort is there, B1200 up, and some great beach cheapies around B300). Local fishermen will organise snorkelling gear and take you to the best spots very cheaply - ask at Why Not Bar. If you go by train, turn right out of the staion, walk 50m to Tae's Restaurant, and hire a motorbike. They can give directions to Luan Suang beach. The best diving areas at Koh Talu can get crowded , so best early in the morning on week days.

Yep as said above Koh Talu is the closest place to HH you can snorkel and actually see some reef and marine life.

Well worth a long weekend in Bangsaphan!

Well I'd have to say I was a little disappointed with Koh Talu. Hords of Thai tourists standing all over the top of the coral, which has been pretty damaged.

Lot's of tiger fish though and other sorts which were pleasent to see.

I think maybe I've been spoiled.

Yeah I should retract that weekend suggestion and definitely recommend avoiding Thai holidays!

Fortunately the tour boats stick to the same patch of reef so the damage is localised, there is a lot more there though that is pristine and untouched. Best thing to do is charter your own boat for the day and go to the smaller outlying islands and reefs.

Talu is the closest place to Hua Hin (and Bangkok on this coastline) with reef though - hence the popularity.
