Calling all scuba addicts!

Post by buksida »

Running on from the other thread asking about getting certified I'd be interested to find out how many divers there are in Hua Hin and if anyone would like to get together to organise a trip down to Chumphon or where ever to go for a few dives.

Sign in if you're interested - I know of at least two out there!

I'm in buksi, but as you know I'm not PADI qualified.
Just have my national divers license from farang land.
I intend to live forever - so far so good.

Hua Hin is a few years in the future for me, full time. I'll watch this thread, but please keep me informed of anything set up.

On our trips over I'd like to participate, then when we move full time I'm there!

Thanks

I was thinking of trying to get a trip organised that can be done in a weekend and possibly to become a regular thing. The diving off the coast of Chumphon isnt bad ... Tao is just a little too far to be done in a regular weekend.

B6PTW, I'd recommend Crystal Dive, they have a nice resort on Koh Tao and can cater to your diving.

Can't second that Buksi. Probably my worst dive experience was with Crystal in Koh Tao. Dive Master got lost, there were strong currents and just about 0 visability, but he kept us divers down and continually went up to surface to get his bearings after 40 min or so we surfaced and were told to swim back to the boat. We were a pooped pack of puppies. Who was the first person back to the boat and out of the water?? and enjoying a drink and fruit while his charges struggled back to the boat. yea, thats right, the dive master. :cuss: :cuss: :cuss:

I refused to pay, well i wrote up the experience and told them to cash that.

Hope they sacked the guy. wont reveal his nationality. but it wasnt American.

coulda been a one off incident but didnt do any further market research. :guns:

Thanks

I went with the Cabana before but I would not recommend them, service is terrible.

Unfortunately I'm not sure if there is an alternative down there.

I'm muchly interested to know where the good dive spots are around HH... are there many wrecks and what are the sights to be seen at this time of year?

Coming from Maldives we're blessed with some of the best diving in the world and can't wait to try out some new spots near HH.

Can you also do dive safaris from HH?

Cheers

I'll be heading down to Koh Talu over the weekend to check out the waters, anyone interested jump on the train (or bus) takes about 2 and a half hours.

Chumphon Diving

Post by B6PTW »

We have just returned from a few nights at the Cabana, Such a pity it could be a very nice little resort hotel except for the rooms which need a lot of rennovaton and TLC also the stagnant stretch of water strewn with rubbish between the bungalows and the pool area. Service is a little spasmodic but acceptable.
The Diving was much better than I expected and I will be going back to Chumphon and diving with the Cabana crew but I may stay elsewhere.
