Boat and fishing equipment hire

Post by MichaelD »

Hello all Expats!

I am travelling to Hua Hin this weekend (arrive monday) and would like to know if it's possible to hire a boat and fishing equipment anywhere in HH?

I think the boat would need some sort of shaded area.

If anyone can give any advice or recommendations on where to hire and where to fish, please let me know.

I've never done fishing before but I'm keen to give it a try!

Thanks

Michael :-)

Hi Norseman,

Maybe i should have been clearer - i'm looking to do some sea fishing not as part of a tour but just hire a small boat that I and my friend can hire, go out and try and get a catch.

I am ideally looking for sea boat hire / equipment hire. That first link seems to be in a lake/river area, and although they do hire out one can assume they'll only hire out for use in their own fishing area.

I'd probably even be up for buying a cheap rod, which would mean I jsut need to source a boat and some bait!

Thanks for the links anyway Norseman :-)

Never been fishing before?

Might need some shade?

Are you real MichaelD?

Do you have any basic nautical knowledge, or do you have knowledge of the waters around Hua Hin? Or is that make it up as you go as well?

If you just want to go out for bit of fun there is a smaller boat called the Bucaneer that is available for charter. I can't guarantee that you will catch anything, but if you're interested there are flyers in many bars giving contact details.

Hi MichaelD

The fishing isn't the best round here inshore, but if you do know some of the spots you can be lucky some days and catch 2-3 kg sweetlips and smaller snapper/seabass/grouper plus silagos (which barbecue really well).

As far as boats are concerned, there are smaller fishing boats (without any facilities) that will take you out from Kao Takiab, for example, and supply gear.

We have a 20ft speedboat here which can be hired by the 1/2 day or full day with a skipper and fishing gear.

If you want any further info, I'll do all I can to help.

barrys,
Where do you think the best place is for getting on a barracuda?
I've heard they swim down in Bang Saphang. They're not huge, but certainly big enough.
