Cool Relax

Post by huahinsimon »

There is a new restaurant up the street and kaddy corner from All in Hua Hin. Cool Relax is the name. Used to be a liquor outlet. It looks more like a coffee shop from out side. And for those of you who "need" air con, it has it, but not too cold.

Only been once. Have great sandwiches and salads. I had a "Knickerbocker" salad. HUGE!! Smoked salmon, smoked duck breast, artichokes, lots of lettuce and other salad fixings. 120 baht!!! almost free for what you get! :D
Doubled up and had the smoked salmon sandwich with capers on baguette. Wow 100 baht. Great value for money. Jug of Heini 149b!! and very cold. :thumb: Check that price vs other establishments

I have no interest in this place other than the food. Its Thai run which probably accounts for the "reasonable" prices.

Oh and there is a small liquor outlet attached. Gilby's gin 285 v 335 at Tesco,
and other prices lower than the other liquor outlets on comparable products like S African box wine.

On the whole a thumbs up from me.

Sounds interesting

Cool Relax

I've eaten lunch @ Cool Relax, too. Service was uneven - some fast, some slow. But the food was delicious, the setting cool & relaxed, and the prices were cool too. Owner said they have WiFi, but I didn't test it.

So the plan is go to AIHH, order half a breakfast, then get your compass out and travel 45 degrees due north to find cool relax, order another half breakfast, return to AIHH where your half breakfast will be getting served, eat it and pay taking no BS then travel back to Cool Relax to finish off the rest of your breakfast, all without waiting!

I've eaten there (cool relax) several times. The food is generally good but the english / american 'breakfast' was pretty poor. Service times have always been slow, but I find it pretty easy to just buttonhole someone to get what I want. Price wise it is pretty good, and I suppose I'd have to say that I ate once at AIHH and never went back, but have returned to CR on a number of occasions, so they must be getting something right. I can second the 'thumbs up' for the salads, though I have had portion sizes that could have been better.

I tried to connect to the wifi there and failed repeatedly. I'm not convinced their router is set up correctly, because it was not showing an IP address when I tried to look, but I managed to get online by just unplugging the cable from the back of the PC standing by the back wall and using that. Probably wasn't popular, but hey...

HHS, does the attached liquor shop still sell cases of beer? The reason I ask is that I used to get cases of Chang Light from there and I thought it had closed down completely. Not many shops stock the stuff by the case and I like to have it in for barbeques; it’s not so strong and stops you setting fire to yourself or whatever.
