A totally new, highly exclusive section.
HHAD very clearly is thought of as a lightweight airhead forum, and most definitely does not contain enough
materiel of relevant issues such as culture, deep thinking, intelligent conversation, good TV, morals,
honesty, being treated as an equal, feeling safe at home or on the roads, struggling with the corruption,
cheapness of life and the total hypocrisy in nearly every aspect of life, not to mention Prime Minister of
this country actively supporting China and looking forward to attending the Olympic ceremony,
whilst others are taking a moral stance to at least some degree. Also the matter of the Thais rarely thinking
too deeply about anything and 'sanuk' being the answer to everything, and foreigners living here displaying
the same attitude, is not being sufficiently addressed.
HHAD can remedy this all by one fell swoop: create a section for Deep Thinkers only.
Give dictatorial moderating powers to someone already a Deep Thinker in her/his own
opinion on this section, so all Deep Thinkers shall be happy forever after. Meanwhile the
rest of us boorish, older mortals who only are looking for a simple way of life with few
challenges or simply want to leave your brain or problems behind us, as we do not expect
too much from life, and like our simple pleasures and are happy sitting around not doing
too much grinning and laughing at any trivial thing, can continue about our burning issues
such as cheap booze, cigarettes and sex.
For the section dictator may I suggest someone already a Deep Thinker, a tolerant and
ethical Buddhist, who already has explicitly demonstrated politeness and tact:
Edwhinedanish, clearly most popular candidate to position of Primus Optimus Maximus Inter Pares.

i shall have to think deeply as to whether i have anything to contribute to this thread

Remember, no one can make you feel inferior without your consent.
You do not agree with my suggestion of a new section, and you advocate censorship
towards something with which you do not agree? My, my, you never miss an opportunity?
You, on the other hand, of course are entitled to express your opinion. I would never even
dream of advocating limitations to your freedom of expression as I consider such muzzling
of differing opinion as very cheap fascistic censorship. No matter how victimizing and belittling
of my opinion your opinion is.

This is a high sensitive thread. That was most probably a "nice" troll...Jockey wrote:Ferang - you have started a new thread off slagging off a member of the board and are inviting others to join in. Thats hardly anything to do with having an opinion.
May I suggest we definitely close the thread and don't feed anymore this troll ?

We'd better have a nice pinte of beer

I believe this was an attempt at humour rather than a serious suggestion so I'm moving it to Foo.

When you write on the board, what are you expressing if not your opinion? Please give a detailed reply. (question #1)
Also where and how do I invite anyone to join in? Please reply in detail. (question #2)
Whenever I express my opinion on the board you are free to express your opinion of my opinion without let or hindrance,
even if you yourself are very quick to cry out for censorship. Very PC, very liberal, you must be proud. Are you? (question #3)
Three straight questions, please give three straight answers, if you can.
Quite right, this was an attempt at humor in a vein very much like one of the original posts.buksida wrote:I believe this was an attempt at humour rather than a serious suggestion so I'm moving it to Foo.

You are right to move it under a more appropriate a heading.

HHAD Usage and Conditions?
I'm surprised that the personal attack on a named, individual poster has been allowed to remain. It seems to me that the OP clearly violates terms of use #4:
"Always be respectful of other users, the system, and the moderators. We put the board online in good faith, please use it in good faith."
and #12:
"Flaming: flaming or personal attacks are not allowed or tolerated. Should anyone use inappropriate language, start a personal attack, or engage in hate speech, they will be banned from all further discussions. It is forbidden to make accusatory or slanderous comments against any other member without substantiated evidence to back up the claim."
The OP was written as a parody, directly mocking another member's postings, and at the end, naming the poster. Even one of the more popular and influential members of HHAD commented on its inappropriateness and suggested it be banned (or maybe that was a parody of the rules?).
What ARE the rules? Is this a case where there are one set of rules for the HHAD elite and one set for the rest of us blokes?

Firstly, a parody it may be. It is not flaming. Flaming is a direct attack on another member (ie 'you are blank blank') This post could be construed as sincere. It could be construed as tongue-in-cheek. It could be construed as parody.
As I said in another thread (& other mods have said), no-one is ever happy with the level of moderation. What is too lenient for some is too severe for others. Either way, there are complaints.
If we were to castigate Farang for this post, I think there are others we would have to castigate for their 'treatment' of other members in various threads. I have been a member on a forum that is overmoderated in that manner & I don't ever wish to be again.
I accept that you see Farang's post in that way, HHD. I honestly don't. I don't think any t&c's have been broken. If they had been, one of the mods would have moderated this thread.

Whatever - I totally support the nomination of edwinadanish as moderator for this new section.
