[quote="margaretcarnes"] Reverting to one of your original ideas of firing it could be a disaster.

Margaret, thanks for your continued advice and support but I must make one thing clear, I have never, and would never suggest that I should fire the property. What I did say is that however tempting knocking down the house seems I would not do it as it would bring me down to her level, and as has been pointed out, someone else might live there now.
I don't want to go into to many details on this forum, she might read it, but as she didn't disclose to the Land Registry Office that she was married it could make the lease void. There are other legal issues in my favour that I might be able to use as a bargaining tool.
At the moment she will not pick up the phone from my lawyer or myself and she has not responded to a registered letter that she has signed for, interestingly it was delivered to my house. I think she believes that if she ignores the issue it will go away, it will not.
I will not throw good money after bad, but I am determined to get at least half of what she has stolen from me back.
Thanks once again for everyones support.
Every time you go to the Immigration Office, please think of me, as you can see my house from there.

Yes, sorry about that! The topic has gone on quite a while but you're right what you say about the bulldozing discussion!
Its just rare for the farang to win for obvious reasons. However - I have known it happen in a child custody case, so be patient, and good luck

My Gran taught me that when y throw pebbles in a pond the ripples go out from the point y threw the pebble in...but wait and they come back to the same point again.
I know here its easy but don't get tempted mate....don't get evil on her. My heart goes out to you but really take it from me - If y cant win through the court you wont win otherwise....it just seems that way till the ripples come back.
If y can wash your hands and walk away....be better than her.
If y cant...well good luck mate....back in Blighty I got f****d when the ripples came back...
....I hope you don't.

Sorry to hear that, it's a common story here indeed. There is some good advise from members here, read it all. As has been mentioned, the problem may well be getting the wife to change anything about the situation at all, she now has what every Thai woman dreams of. The property laws here are very swampy at best and usually loaded against you in every possible way. A good start from here would be to safely leave anything else you have in your home country, away from light fingers, then consult the lawyer to see if anything can be done. Find out the score before you tell or speak to anyone about it, but don't hold your breath. Good luck!

in this country
whether its property or women, in this country the sane advice is
RENT don't buy.

Yes I fell for a "wrongan" but I think she was in a minority, and I will still treat women will decency and respect.
I might still find Mrs Right, who knows I might have found her already, but any new love is going to live with the bagage of this lady.
I will continue to fight for justice, I have worked long and hard for what I have and am not going to give everything to a woman to just wants everything handed to her on a plate.
Thanks once again for the tremendous support I have had on this forum, which is helping me get through it.

Norseman, its a saying in N. American. Rent dont buy or Lease dont buy.Norseman wrote:You said it HHS.
You could be wrong and you bloody well are!!!
Rent women!!
If you have no respect for people in this country, why are you here?
Ya ever hear of a guy named Paul McCartney.
The correct interpretation is DONT GET LEGALLY MARRIED, have a long term committed relationship, TAKE CARE of your lady, her kids, her family, BUT DONT BUY LAND AND HOMES ETC IN HER NAME. Dont give her a legal claim to your wealth. Ask Anothermug. Sure, some people win at the casino. But no need to take the risk. Or make a prenuptual agreement, if possible here.
If you're true, you make a will, giving her all your assets- just like you was married. If she's not true, when she pisses off you still got something to live on and start over. If you're not true and you piss-off, you still got the same.
In your country, can a Thai own land? In this country can a Norseman own land?

Urk...
Near Immigration, furnished and with plasma screen TV's, and all included for a quick sale by a woman. I think I went to see this property! Obviously *very* happy now that I didn't jump. Would hate to be reading this and thinking 'oh god, I've got the guy's house'
Very sorry to hear of all the problems, but I assure you that simply by posting what you have, you help a lot of people (like me!) avoid similar situations in the future.

Had enough of the trolls. Going to sleep. I may be some time....
Could work. But one of several things could happen and have happened. You could do what some friends have done - buy a house in the wife's name and take out a 30 year lease from her. Anyone see any problems with this?
1. Wife and/or family want to get rid of you so arrange it that you get beaten up or threatened with murder by a group of Thai guys until you get scared and give up the lease.
2. Repeatedly sabotage your water and/or electricity supply or do other annoying things until you give up and go away.
3. After you have bought the land in her name. she decides she doesn't want to lease it to you, and asks you why you don't trust her.
I think that you will find that the Land Dept. will require you to sign a declaration that the money used to buy the property is solely her own money.
This may not be a problem at the time, but legally you may find that you have no claim if the relationship goes sour. If you are legally married, and your wife has changed her registered name to your surname, then they may not register a lease at all.

May you be in heaven half an hour before the devil know`s you`re dead!
"nuff said."
Once again HHS you seem to believe that you and only you are right and know everything!
I for one don't go along with you.
Everyones situation is different and I was more than happy to put our house in my wife and daughters name.
After 15 years of happiness and hard work, they deserve everything they have got.
