Another place I forgot to mention that serves excellent western food is a new place called "The Valley". The location is a bit weird, at the 1st factory outlet past Cha Am on the way to Phetchaburi. I don't think its a good business decision for the owner because of the location, but its well worth visiting. (Try the salmon & mash potatoes with asparagus and a dill sauce). If that place were in Cha Am or Hua Hin I would be a regular.

Do you never eat at home? Do you and your beloved never cook? Personally, home is where I eat most of the tastiest food I find (apart from Parahandy's place, that is...)

Sorry Jocky cannot place the one you are on about but will look it up next time I am over. BTW the one at the base of the Buddah is well worth a vist. The time I went food was great and good value.

Well I'm driving along Phetkasem Road when I spot a huge sign that says "The Valley". Then I spots another one, then another...

Ditto that Jockey - only been to the factory outlet once and have to say that The Valley was the best thing about the place. The carbonara was excellent - one of the few times I've had it served cooked properly and not drenched in a watery packet sauce.

We had the same thoughts as you though - the outlet is very much geared towards Thais but the prices at The Valley are very much farang.

Very poor choice of location - they are a chain and have restaurants in BKK, where Thais are generally more affluent and regularly pay farang prices. Just can't see that applying to visitors to the factory outlet and can't see it remaining open for too long. If they opened in HH however I agree completely that they would do very very well.

ps. the only comparable carbonara I've had in HH was at Roccia, so don't write the place off too soon.

Agree with Tons massaman and pretty much everthing else they serve .They just upgraded the toilets to an acceptable standard as well .

Mini farm
Corner 84 for a light lunch
Fuji for very reasonably priced japanese
Dusit on a monday for a an ok carvery and fantastic desserts
Victoria for a breakfast bap
chicken place near kims kitchen .Always a wait to be seated at weekends .
Supatra for prawn cakes and sizzling seafood
Prefer Bills ribs to the rib Co.
BDP for a steak and some scallops
Naab Thong for cheap thai in nice surroundings
The Admiral for milkshakes
Anywhere for beer that has it cold and in date
Luck seafood cha am for rock lobster
Terrys place for ostrich,good company and the largest glass of red wine in town .And some fishing somewhere along the line .

is Luck seafood located at the Harbour beside all the other seafood restaurants?

Do you have to catch the Ostrich at Terrys before cooking or whatever you do with it out there at Terry's?

i think the best masaman curry is to be had at the oasis bar in khao takiap,the cooking in general is very good ,but the masaman is top.

Crazy, i have just asked the wife wot is Nam tok ? noodles in a blood based sauce hummm..... intresting thats one and an other is rare cooked meet with lots of fat on, i will have to try some of this.The wife reconds if you go to the Issan food stalls opposit the Thai boxing garden and ask they will all cook it for you.Our friend Toy has sadly packed his stall up great food and very cheap he is now just running his mini van about.

Just caught up with this thread

Crazy - with the current surge of prices, we are fighting the temptation to up the price or conversely reduce the amount of red wine in our glasses - for now it's the same.

Our supply of ostrich was threatened by the dreaded price hike - but we did a deal with the supplier - so it's ok for now.

As for the fishing - gets better all the time - Wazzer had himself a nice 8.1kg Cohor over the weekend - and for once I was there to witness it.

Fish farming - maybe

Ostriches - nah - too noisey, dirty & smelly for my liking + you have to catch the buggers to nobble them for market - not my scene.

Wine production? - now there's a thought

Why not combine the two. Make your own wine. feed the residue at the bottom of the barrel to the ostriches. they fall down drunk and you catch them
Benefits ready soused ostrich steaks and the only person in HH to sell ostrich omelettes
PS my father did that with pigs and cider they got drunk fell down asleep woke up with hangovers snapping at each other.

I'll have you know that 'manfarangtortleam' go down well with a bit of ostrich and a hefty wine daeng!



As for the size of the hook Wazzer, I guess it would have to be a bit on the large size.
