Ideas for honeymoon?
Hi Everyone,
First up great forum you have here!
I will be visiting Hua Hin in the for the first 2 weeks of August this year for my honeymoon, I was wondering if anyone out there can give me some pointers as to how to spend our time (apart from the obvious honeymoon activities!).
We both enjoy going out to bars that have live bands so any of these that are good on weekends / weeknights would be great.
Also if anyone can recommend some good days trips to any of the local sights that would also be helpful as i don't want to rely on recommendations from the hotel staff.
I see there is a pretty extensive section in the forum on restaurants so i'll go and read that now.
Cheers everyone!

Congrats to you guys!
I would recommend a couple of nights in a really top hotel - a friend of mine stayed for 2 nights in a private pool lodge in Putharasca resort - ideal honeymoon place
i think u get my drift,
Live music can be had most nights in El Murphys - great rock band who play stuff from the stones to the chilli peppers.
Roof top restaurant at palce called the Dune in Nebkehardt road - top place.
Shooting machine guns at the army range just out of town.
Night in the karoake bars - let it all hang out!
Maybe a 2 day trip to Koh talu and rent a beach villa - beautiful island and you can try snorkelling really is stunning down there, only 2 hours drive from HH.
Have fun and pop in to Johnnie Walkers for a few free celebratory beers.
Christ after all this you will be knackered! But u will never forget ur honeymoon.

you're such a romantic JWShooting machine guns at the army range just out of town

Ananthara Resort, just outside Hua Hin proper would be an ideal hotel for a honeymoon, the pools and landscaping setting is awesome. plus they do meals on the beach with pagoda set-up's.
Maruekhathaiyawan Palace, ex-palace, this off internet:
(Palace of love & hope) designed by King Rama VI, and completed in 1924. Walk around the Teakwood Palace, now restored to its former glory.
Springfield Golf & Country Club: Spenda day there, cheap but quality spa facilities ona hill with great views, the biggest, best pool in town, restaurant for lunch set partly in the pool
Pala-U waterfall, about an hour away at most
Restaurants:
Supatra-by-the-sea (just before kao takiab)
Coco 51, soi 51
Chom Talay, about soi 2, tables set up on the beach
Bangkok: the absolutely best restaurant setting in the world, 'sirocco' on top of the State Tower, Silom road overlooking the river and the whole of bangkok.
Highest 'open air' restaurant in the world, 86th floor i think, has a jazz band playing up there. Not over-the-top pricewise for a one-off, it's not a posh place either, they let JW in.

have a good time mate, you do realise August is in the rainy season and could be a bit hit and miss
.
Thanks for all the ideas.
Have already booked the Anatara so am glad you also recommended it.
I know August isn't great weather wise but my girlfriend is a teacher and we had to work in with her holidays, I was in Thailand in 2004 in August and it was ok then, just a good downpour early evening most days so i'm hoping this year will be similar (fingers crossed), and if its rainy i'm sure i'll come up with something to do indoors.
That restaurant in BKK looks great, will def put that on the agenda, as well as a free beer in JWs!
thanks again

Pete,
That restaurant is something special well worth the effort, you can just have a drink up there around the circular bar.
You'll have a good time in Johnnie Walker bar, good place for couples, don't bank on the free beer actually materialising mind.

do you mean joe's place ? if you don't wake up with a hangover and a black-eye, you weren't there, lolall nighter at the driving range with the Scotch contingent
.
If you stop in Bangkok go to the Boyoke Sky Hotel, tallest building in thailand cocktail bar second from top good music,go up 1 more level and there is a revolving roof deck you feel that you are on top of the world its great.
