BREAD MAKING

Post by sargeant »

When i was in the uk having my ticker examined i stayed with my sister and my B in L.
I noticed a machine and was told it was for making a loaf cut a long story short we made one and i was hooked.
So i bought one i then had to wait until january for them to bring it out to me
Since then i have had fabulous bread Fresh and still warm and crusty I make 500 grm loaves 2/3 times a week it takes a max of 5 mins to load and then 3 hours unwatched (wait for the georgeous smell of fresh baking bread) and out it pops
I was wondering if anybody else out there makes their own bread. And would be interested in swapping recipes and what machines they have

It is the only item i wish i had brought with me when i came at the beginning and would recommend anybody coming here to live to research one   :D :D :D

Randy the only ingredients you would need from town is the yeast and that can be got from the chinese supermarket and the flour with the green label and it actually saves money i dont throw any bread away anymore i must admit the smell that comes off it as it is baking is awsome good worth it for that alone :D :D :D
What make of machine winkie and your pizza dough recipe would be useful i make spiced currant bun dough and bake them in the oven as well :D :D :D

I think I’ve seen one of these bread-makers in Tesco Lotus, but I’m not the most domestic of people and I might be confusing it with some other type of appliance.

Winkie no not machine envy just that i am interested as maybe there are some differences i can make 500 750 and 1 kilo loaves i can make dough and oven bake and jam  :? beleive it or not my BinLs panasonic has recipes but they are not the same as mine i have adapted my main recipe slightly and although every loaf made has been good a little milk added and 100 gram of blue bag flour makes me a broaf of lead i really like :D :D :D
Its that sort of tip i am looking for by the way. :D
Nevets dont know i would think you can get them here but if you dont find one before you go back to uk get one there i can only recommend panasonic and kenwood as they are all i have experience of but both of them are great. :D :D
I would also like to get my hands on some brown bread flour  anyone :D

I am sure I saw frozen ready to bake packs last time I was there.
A lot easier than buying flour, yeast etc.

Actually Oz i find it far easier with the machine but each to his own what i will say is i definitely get far better tasting bread from my machine than i have been able to get anywhere else and i find it cheaper to.
I make a 500 gm loaf every 3 days it stays fresh without all the additives the flour is readily available only the yeast is in a special place and that will last me 6 months at least. :D
I wish i had brought me self one before i came here in 1998

In BKK you can find Bread Makers of many varieties and brands in most most of the electrical stores.

Sarge, I also have one and here in Perth there are shops where you can buy ready made mixes so all you have to do is add water and away you go, instant bread of whatever you want.

Also as you are going on about machines you cannot do without, I bought a rice cooker machine as I have a Chinese student satying with me at present and got fed up with paying $3 per large portion of boiled rice.

My own rice I used to make was always to wet, but now have perfect rice every time and only takes 15mins to cook, Would not be without it.

Nice story Sarge,

For someone like me who is useless in the kitchen, how hard/easy would it be to get the mix right ?
And does it taste like normal white bread ? Which is all I really like.

Cheers,

SJ I can assure you that the mixes that I have used taste great. I never eat white bread only brown, and the ones I have made have been fantastic
