Sj, that was exactly why I bought the electric rice cooker. I could not make rice good enough and had to resort to buying from the take away every night, much to the amusment of the Chinese lady in the takeaway.

But all I have to do now is wash the rice, pour in the water and then turn it on. It cooks itself and then turns itself off, and at the end have perfect rice.

Is much the same with the bread maker. It is great for making sourdough, if you like that sort of bread.

The question is though (and this is for sarge really) can you get the ready mixes here in Thailand? And if not, what do you need to make the bread and where do you get it?

I was going to ask if they come in like flat sachets, powdery like, if so it'd be easy to get stacks bought over by people.

SJ, they come in packets similar to a small packet of flour or sugar. So as long as they do not split it would be ok.

Have seen the ready mixes in Villa in BKK, think Foodland has them also.

Really, really simple to do with normal ingrediants though, just bung em in and switch it on. Its does all the mixing, kneading, proving and cooking.

As Winkie has stated, this is really easy to do yourself, many recipes available on the internet.

With a bread machine, all of the mixing, resting and raising times and temps are done for you, just find the ingredients, put them in and away you go.

One word of warning, if you are somebody who suffers from indigestion every now and again, please be aware that warm bread from your oven is not the best thing for this ailment. Please allow the bread to cool completely before you eat it.

But for them that can't be bothered to get the ingredients and measure out the required quantities, then just add water to the following:-

I only have 6 white mixes left in stock at the moment, Granary and Wholemeal mixes will be back in stock in another two or three weeks. :thumb:

JD you are a jinyus they are perfick the same ones i used with my Bin L in blighty i will come and get the brown loaf mix soon as you got some let me know :D :D :D
I however buy the fLour in the green packet and fermipam yeast from the chinese supermarket then its water. some milk, a bit of butter, salt, milk powder (from chinese supermarket) and sugar :thumb: :thumb:
It takes me no more than 5 minutes (no joke) and then in the machine 3 button pushes and then leave it it beats it pounds it rises it and bingo cooks it, :D :D :D 8)
it also will keep it warm for an hour after its cooked and you can set the timer so it is straight out at 7 in the morning. :rasta: :bow:
I can also cook a loaf in one hour if i was in a rush :shock: :shock:
sorry chaps had to look up what rush means in the dictionary :lach:
Super joe i spent my life blowing things up and its easy for me dead simple they supply the measuring kit with mine and i would think they all do

I have been having a quiet chuckle over my choice of topic name "BREAD MAKING"

Sarge - I have the answer to your prayers. Joyce in Condo Chain - the tanned lady from 'Ull who can usually be found anywhere theres a darts match - has used a breadmaker over there for yonks. She even has an original Bero cookbook.
As well as bread you can do all sorts of fruit loaves. Never has any trouble getting ingredients in HH and its as easy as pie.

BTW Ozuncle - if you are thinking about trying the frozen dough in your regular oven, be aware that ovens in LOS often don't get as hot as needed for baking.

P.S. guys. By coincidence the Mail carried an article on Breadmakers on Thursday May 29th, in it's 'Femail' magazine section. www.dailymail.co.uk
Worth a look before any of you buy.
BTW some of it's test results report a chewy result, but didn't proper bread always used to be chewy?
