Could someone tell me what is a Thai kitchen

there are so many possible answers!! but the serious one maybe is that a Thai kitchen is just an outdoor gas burner (or any other means of cooking). It means that the noxious fumes from cooking chillis start off outside your house.

I do remember once not long ago that part of Soho in London was sealed off as it was thought that there was a terrorist gas attack after people started collapsing in agony in the street. Turned out that one of the restaurants was cooking chillis and the fumes were coming out from the extractor fan.

just a couple of burners and rice cooker outside or behind house, dont want grease all over your new teak kitchen.

we all know food tastes better cooked outside, ask the aussies

Yes Thai families build a very nice house complete with western kitchen and then never use it always cook out the back of the house .

Thai Kitchen is out side kitchen with gas cooker . That's it.
Notmally it will be behind or beside your European kitchen.
If you not cook thai food you don't need it. Anyway it's good for the greasy fried food or strong smell food.

But I think in new housing it also refers to a kitchen where the work tops and storage space are tiled, with spaced out cupboards under, unlike your typical 'western' set-up.

We live in Southern California and have a very nice kitchen, 5 burner stove with high and low BTU burners, and twin ovens, but the wife, and her Mom can't wait until I finish the outdoor kitchen.

We've got the grills, burners ready, waiting to pour concrete next month. Then sink and counters and patio cover.

usually means, no conventional oven.....which we find extremely useful.

When we had our European kitchen built, my wife, who is short in stature insisted on "her 5 burner hob and worktops being much lower than standard height" and me being taller had to have seperate hob so I did not get backache when using it.
So we have 2 of everything, 2 hobs, 2 hoods, 2 fan ovens, and 2 seperate worktop areas.
That's my wife's idea of "Thai kitchen.
I got my own back though. Only 1 Microwave and that is way out of her reach

Hi

I found this thread when searching for cupboards and hope you can help.
My problem is I am looking for a large (6'x4'x2') outside cupboard to store brooms/mops/bucket.

I have a roof overhang where it would be semi protected from the elements but idealy it would be plastic in the style of the garden tool storege you see in the UK, I think Rubbermaid make something similar?

Any ideas where I could find one, or alternatives you may be using for a similar purpose?

I have tried all the local large stores in town and have failed, directions woud be appeciated as I am still new to the area.
