Villa Market soon in HH
It's in Pranburi. Others will be better able to give you precise directions.
One recipe for garam massala is:
1 tablespoon of cardamom seeds
2 inch stick of cinnamon
Teaspoon of mustard seeds - preferably black.
Cloves
Peppercorns
Nutmeg - don't know what that's called in Thai.
Smack them all up and use sparingly at the end of cooking as a garnish.

I am interested too![]()
BTW I've never seen caradamom here
The PM thing was simply because I didn't want to seem to be hijacking your original thread about Villa! It seems, however, that I'm too late, and I agree totally with JW - there should be an Indian Food thread...
I have bought cardamoms happily in BKK before, but never here. Thanks for the challenge! I'll see what I can do and get back to you...
Nutmeg, in Thai, is something like jan-tha-thaet, but I've never tried to find it in Hua Hin. (I lie - I think that I once found some in the Mini-Farm.) Another challenge...

P.S. Francois - did you ever have any luck with the sausage machine? P.

Villa Market soon in HuaHin
Lomu - get thee-sen stocked up in your spice heaven, then I'll fetch anything you are missing later. But have you tried that Indian store on Sukhumvit? Opposite side of road to Lobinsons and at the foot of the footbridge.
I do understand your penchant for markets in Penang though. Its akin to the sheer joy of finding plums in Hatyai!
