I wanted Holland to win though because there hardest working Striker come Right Back plays a Defensive Striker/run around alot role for Liverpool.

For an Attacker you are only offside if you are active in the move but a Defender can be on his arse off the field and still be playing someone onside. ?????

A load of Bollocks if you ask me.
What I understand from reading in the press the point is that he stayed INTENTIONALLY of the pitch to create an offside situation. Same as stepping of the pitch by crossing over your own goal line to create an offside position. Not allowed. Very clear.
We are all living in 'the good old days' of the future.

Well the press are wrong.

He challenged for the ball, got knocked over the line by Buffon who cleared the ball, the ball was crossed back in and Ruud scored from an offside position.

I dont mind when mistakes are made, thats Football, but why try and say the decision was correct when not one person watching or playing for that matter, would agree.

Take a look for yourself.

Not to Dirk Kuyt, the Professional footballer who was involved in the match and who's team gained a goal it wasnt or any of the Ex Professional Footballers who analysed the match.

That 'goal' though is beside the point; Holland were by far the better side and could have scored 5 or 6. I think Van der Sar only had to make a couple of meaningful saves and Italy were just very poor.

Brilliant win for Holland, the France vs Italy match will be a crunch game now.

You can be given offside even if the defending team have a defender on the line and attacking team has two players in the box and one passes to the other, while the defender is still in front of them.

Spain were superb tonight.

Great to see Villa run to give Torres a hug on the touchline after completing his Hattrick.

Next seasons Liverpool strikeforce???

Please!!!

Have you been changed for a broken record? I saw the match myself and read reviews from the BBC and other European media. The general consensus was that the score did not reflect the performances.

If you want to see Italy play entertaing attaccking football, don't hold your breath. The score which should have been 2 - 0 could easily have been 2-2 but for an incredible display by Van de Saar.

After watching the French game I am sure that we had watched the two losers playing followed by the two winners.

What Italy have is consistency and experience (over 31 years average age). In past compettitions that have often got off to a bad start.

If by some miracle France proceed at the expense of Italy I shall be very surprised.

I think Ireland were unlucky mainly because they don't have any camels. England did not deserve to qualify.

Anyway back on track. I am still going with Spain. Villa, Torres, Fabrigas awesome.

Hi There Yáll!!!

Katastophe!!! That's the best way to discribe the German way of playing against Croatia. It's like the entire german squad was on valium or something worst. an absolute disgrace was Schweinsteigers push in penalty time for what he clearly deserved the Red card.
Miroslaw Klose was simply not present at all in this Game I thought they'd better sub him and bring Kev Kuranyi instead. But Yogi Loew had other things in mind, Germany deserved to loose against Croatia!!!
Wow!!! It's like Deja Vu all over again for me like ten years ago. Germany during the World Cup in France.
Perhaps the German team cannot cope with pressure that well and simply cacked as w'all seen on Tv!

Einfach nur schrecklich kann ich da nur sagen!!!!
