Another Suggestion

Post by huahindolly »

That's so discouraging, Mr. T. I'm glad to hear your family is OK, but the loss and the replacement hassles are a pain.

One thing I've done is to scan important documents and then park the files in a password-protected place on the Internet. This way, even if my computer is stolen, I still have the scanned images.

Thanks for all the words of comfort folks.

Much appreciated.

Yes we always have copies of I.D. from anyone working for us and these have been used by the MIB to track down possible leads.

The 'next' safe will be built -in and bomb proof - trust me.

Word of warning - NEVER lose a have a chanote stolen.

You would not believe the bloody agro in trying to get one replaced - and we had 16 stolen! - not that we have loads of land - it's just that some are made up of several chanotes.

The worst of it all is the sense of loss of the personal items - some of my mothers jewelry given to Mrs.T and some keepsakes of my dad.

No doubt never to be seen again.

Mrs.T at the Police station right now - checking on progress - don't hope for much.

Have a peaceful weekend y'all

An Update.

MIB have found the culprit
Found the safe
It's empty
Culprit is on police bailand likely to get away with it 'unless we prosecute'

MIB have our Chanotes but nothing else.

Here's the catch

In her distraught after the break-in Mrs. T offered a reward to the police if they caught the responsible asshole and also if goods were returned.

MIB are now waiting for us to 'reward' them for getting the chanotes - before they give them back.

You can guess my answer to that one :guns: :guns: :guns:

Play it carefully Terry, you may have to request replacement land titles.
I know of two cases where the land office refused to give people their legitimate land papers because of disputes that were nothing to do with the land ownership.
One was a Thai developer who thought he was connected, but was obviously out-connected by a.n.other.

If the old bill tell the boss in the land office not to issue you replacement papers, they won't issue them from what I've seen.

Good luck mate,

SJ

The process of getting new chanotes was started the day after the break-in.

My reaction to the MIB thus far has been quiet - although naturally I'm boiling inside.

Will play this very calm for now, but just can't get it out of my head what a buch of money grabbing, useless b&^%$!$s the MIB are.

hmmmm

as the safe goods are only partially returned Id say to them they are only partially getting the reward....unless they do something to earn the rest of the reward....such as ensuring the culprit never robs anyone else again....if y catch my drift

Point out its difficult to break in and rob a safe minus thumbs.....both of them.....work incentive sort of thing......

If you're not getting results here, people can always turn to Pattaya old bill, they seem to be on the ball:

Quote:
Tuesday night police from Banglamung station were called to a remote location in Huay Yai sub-district where they made the grisly discovery of a decomposed body hanging by electrical cable from a tree.
Judging from the decomposed state of the corpse, the male had been dead for at least two months and police are suspecting foul play. The deceased, aged about 25 but currently unidentified, had his hands bound in front of his body with duct tape, a situation which tends to make suicide rather difficult
.

'rather difficult' .... but they're not ruling it out

Agreed, Stick to you regular job.

Terry, with regards the reward, I suppose it depends upon how much people have in mind. It might be less than you think. My reaction would be: you promised the reward so you sort it.

What SJ says is 100% spot on. I have seen this happen twice before. There is never any profit from pissing off the police if they know who you are.
