I think its wide open and I'm still not convinced about the Dutch?

I think a Chelsea player will win it!
Yes, Italy are far from entertaining and also seem to bumble through. I think that the real test is with Spain who I think will go on to win but as Chelsea said at the beginning Croatia have a good chance.

Unfortunately though we don't have a Spaniard yet at Chelsea. In fact I think we only have three players left in the competition. Cavallo, Ballack & Ferreira.

My guess for the last four is Portugal, Holland, Croatia and Spain with Portugal & Spain in the Final.

Guess,
I didn't see last night's match but the reports suggest that Italy deserved the win against a disjointed France, but also that they will be without Gattuso and Pirio for the match against Spain, not that the former will be much loss from what i have seen of him in this competition. Even with their full complement I can't see them beating Spain, but stranger things have happened. Can anyone tell me why Luca Toni is first choice though? He has looked awful, and i gather he was even more wasteful last night.
Anyway Holland will play one of Sweden or Russia in the QF and then if they win that the winner of Spain/Italy. i think the semis will be Holland v Spain, and Germany v Croatia, and Holland v Germany in the final.

Well it was a 10 man France and I thought they gave the Italians a lot of scares. I didn't think Italy impressed and it was sad to see them retreating into their cynical tricks, belaying their fears.

Italy's goals came from the penalty after the sending off and a deflected free kick. Nice one Henry - why put forwards at the edge of a wall?

He is but a shadow of the player he was working within Arsenals system. It seems the club got the best deal when he left.

I think both France and Italy looked poor in the goup stages so it will be interesting to see the Dutch against tougher opposition, but of course, they are now flying on sky high confidence. That of course, has been their downfall in the past.

Donadoni must be very grateful to “San Marco” I suppose.
I have been watching the other game of course and the Dutch team had 9 different players from the team which walked over France. It is now obvious that van Basten does not have a B-team, but an A-team of 23 players. What a luxury position for a coach.
In the Romanian team, former Chelsea player Mutu did not impress at all. Probably his mind was with the 12m € he has to pay back.

yep, italy squeak through again :| seems they do it every tournament!

the letter of the law suggests abidal had to be red carded but did he really deny a goal scoring opportunity considering it was luca toni through on goal  :D
why abidal was playing centre half was a mystery in itself, he's not even a good left back :(

i'm in agreement with guess on the last four, portugal, spain, croatia & holland but i fancy a spain v croatia final.

Yes I agree my money stays on Spain to win.

A bit of a players player. Ther by player demand I think

But of course as they are Muslims they won't be drinking, will they?

I do not wish to take any credit from Turkey but that certainly is the weaker side of the tournament with three of the four top teams still in the other group.

There is always a surprise team in this competition. Last time it was Greece and this time it's Turkey. I would like to see Turkey go on to beat Germany but Germany have a habit of carrying on to the end against the odds.

Now Portugal have gone I am going for a Turkey/Spain final. Having said that it will probably be Germany/Holland.

Tomorrow's Spain v Italy will be the match for me.

Not much talk about Russia but they're still there. Turkey/Russia final. Stranger things have happened.

turkey in the semis
fair play to them, they haven't exactly excelled in the footballing sense but they work hard & never give up :thumb:
i think the semi will prove a match to far for them though, considering the injuries & the fact that 3 key players got yellow carded last night & will miss the game :(
maybe with eduardo fit, the croats would have been facing the germans, they had enough chances to win comfortably last night.

just watched holland v russia.
one word describes russias performance tonight, awesome!!!!
could & should have been over & done with in 90 minutes, comfortably.
the dutch just were not in it :(

After Germany and Turkey, Russia is the 3rd nr 2 of the group, who qualified for the semis.
Will also Italy revive tonight?

Yes you have it interpreted correctly. The teams on the poll were the top eight (50%) of the teams that started the tournament. As Holland, Italy and France were in the same group it was obvious from the outset that at least one team would not reach the knockout stage.

The various rankings of the teams left in the competition are:

HHAD:

1.. Spain
2.. Someone Else
3.. Germany
4.. Italy with just one vote.

FIFA World Rankings

1.. Italy (2)
3.. Spain (7)
3.. Germany (9)
4.. Turkey (27)
5.. Russia (34)

UEFA Newsvine Euro2008 (Points) Compile from numerous sources including bookmakers odds so probably the most accurate.

Germany (100)
Spain (97)
Italy (93)
Russia (60)
Turkey (54)

Which all points to a Germany Spain final which will probably go to penalties. I can smell the sauerkraut already.

So after tonights drama, its still on for a Chelsea player to win it.

But who will face the Germans, the surprise Ruskies, conquerers of the mighty English(?) or the Spanish Armada - I think it all depends on which version of each footballing nation turns up on the night.

Meanwhile, the Germans plod on.....
