How dare you eat Italian food in Thailand, Blah Blah Blah..............

I can tell you where to never order a Lasagne from, on your left on soi kanjanomai if your coming from Naresdamri, I forget the name (M & P, Maybe????)

Possibly the worst plate of food i've been given in my life, yet the majority of the menus great.

Everyone always recommends the little Italian on the corner of Naresdamri. (Beach to Hilton Road)

It is a nice spot and good Pizza but Pasta's not so good.

The best IMHO by far is Delize, opposite All In Hua Hin. The Pasta is fresh home made and the chef is Italian.

I bought a whole tray for a party and had to rescue myself a bit after the Thais discovered it.

Farang food alloy mak mak.

I am not sure if Aubergines are available here but Delize will cook them if they are. I used to jsut springle fresh parmesan on slices with a little basil and put in the oven for a snack. Excellent when you acquire the taste.

Salt the eggpant slices for 15 mins first to release moisture which can have an unpleasant taste. Mop up with paper towel then bung slices into oven or fry in good olive oil or butter. Scrumptious!

Make first a garlic oil :
Put 20 cloves of garlic, peeled and crushed, in a small saucepan, cover with oil (best with olive oil), hut slowly. When tiny bubbles start to appear on the garlic. Remove from fire and let cool. Repeat the process 2 times. Be carefull, garlic should not brown nor burn ;-)

Keep the flavored oil in a jar _AND_ puree garlic in another one. This garlic will be fantastic on cold meat with a piece of bread.

Now, take your eggplant slices, brush'm with a little oil and grill them (oven, grid or bbq)... This will be less fatty and really tasty.

Francois, will you marry me?

I confess I did ask Parahandy first, but he said something about having enough trouble already...

Moon Smile serves great food - fish lovers should try the grilled cotton fish - had it today and its bloody delicious. Food is always good with nice big portions - be it Clams in chilli paste or a red curry - top restaurant and really nice staff to.

Post by HughHO »

Monsoon is very nice..... Quiet and great food! Now, remembe3r that if you crave a quite enviro in which to dine that it will cost you as in keep some out due to the "duchats for dining"!

Had a little Kanom and Bier sesion at Buffalo and found taht to be good also.

Francois - before you rush off to marry someone - love the sound of your garlicky oil, and will try it, but you say never brown or burn garlic. How is it so many Thai dishes feature 'crispy fried' garlic? (which tastes pretty good to moi.) Just curious.
Iagra - good to hear that Luckys is still churning out VFM breakfasts. It seems they have been consistent for a good few years now, as have MP. Agreed the temple eateries can be very good, but Lucky and MP don't seem to get much of a mention.
Oh - and BaaBaa - also good to hear that lil'BamBam is still around!

Re breakfast at Lucky:
Yes, consistently same good value for a light b'fast over several years, IMHO.
Also free internet and 2 or 3 Bangkok Posts.
One point, however - the full fry-up b'fast includes the weirdest tasting sausages ever. (Must ask what and why next time.)
