Ranong to Victoria point Myanmar.
You have to get a bus to Ranong of a train to Phun Pin (Surat Thani) and a minibus to Ranong.
Go to the pier and get a boat across. It is best to have 10 US dollars with you to get into Myanmar.

There will be a minibus going down on 28th if there is enough demand (I hope there is, as I want on it!). It costs 2,500bt inclusive of everything including the $10 to the Burma authorities. It leaves approx 6am & gets back about 12hrs later.
The phone number is 087 1669489 (Ae). Hope that helps.

Re Visa Run
Thanx to all, your advice is appreciated!!

1. GOING TO ANOTHER COUNTRY TO GET A THAI VISA. (of course from a Thai embassy) = VISA RUN
2. CROSSING THE BORDER TO GET A STAMP (ONLY TOURIST VISA AND MULTIPLE ENTRY TYPE OF VISAS = VISA RUN
3. GOING TO SUAN PLU IMMIGRATION OFFICE IN BANGKOK OR ANY OTHER IMMIGRTAION OFFICES IN THE COUNTRY (SOME FOR SPECIAL PURPOSES) =VISA RUN
4. GETTING TRANSIT VISA =VISA RUN
What else? or is it the term 'VISA RUN' is a slang phrase??????????? or literally getting on the bus, van, plane, horse carriage....or 'RUNNING'
Lomuamart, Why do you have to do a visa run if ur not getting a 'VISA STAMP'...
or don't get me wrong is this thread for 'illegal workers' just doing monthly stamp from borders..Seriously guys this country is becoming confusing.
But Norseman, A Multiple Entry (1 year validity) Non-Immigrant 'B' visa type obtained from the country of origin coming to Thailand to work, (ex. as a teacher- while waiting for the work permit-which usually takes 2-3 months or sometimes a year) the holder MUST leave the country every 3 months..otherwise the 'Multiple Entry Visa' will be invalid and automatically becomes a 'Tourist Visa'(30 days)...Just crossing the border....'VISA RUN'....isn't it?
Been in the country for several years now as a worker not a tourist! who had lots of troubles in 'getting a visa' and 'doing visa run' (If there's really no difference)....Getting use now with diffrerent rules and changes of policies of Thai Immigration QUARTERLY.
Pls correct me or let me know if there are RECENT changes about 'visa run' ............ahhhhhhhhhh 'getting a visa' ....ahhhhhhhhhhh 'visa stamp' whatever.

SUPERMAN,
You are muddying the waters here. The original poster asked a straight forward question that I answered.
The term Visa Run is a colloquialism. It is common parlance among ex-pats and long stay travellers to mean a border crossing to get a stamp. It doesn't matter what the Thai immigration documentation states.
There is nothing illegal about it.
The people who have to do the crossing are:
People who are in the state of applying for a working permit visa, such a as a teacher or a chef or business visa.
Applicants who have not yet had their applications sanctioned.
Casual travellers with no visa or visa. (Visa waiver or visa on entry).
Non Immigrant O "Visiting family and friends" visa holders may also have to do a crossing every 30 days.
Multi entry tourist visa holders (obtained outside of the region) may be required to make a border crossing for a 60 day stamp.
As for your question about visas in general I would recommend that you write down your specific question and post it elsewhere on this section of the forum. If you look at the front page of this section

you are bound to find an existing thread that you can add to.
This thread is very specific and has already been answered I think.
Perhaps the OP could confirm.

Superman,
You are correct. It's all about semantics, I suppose. I did mean to qualify myself before but I didn't.
I suppose the words should be "border run" when anyone is doing an in and out without getting a visa - a 30 day visa exempt stamp.
A "visa run" should be applied to a visit to a country outside of Thailand to get a visa.
An extension should be applied to those who don't need to do either of the above and just stay in Thailand.
Transit visas are probably not available for your nationality (?) or mine, nor are visas on arrival.
