Hua Hin is still a much unknown tourist place for new travellers. In my preparation for my vacation to HH i noticed you have to dig deep the internet to find some suitable and reasonable priced accommodations in HH (if your on a budget).

Via the big travel or hotel booking websites you mainly get the big hotel's as the Hilton, Sofitel were you pay around 4000 baht a night. Most families with kids have a budget and than these hotels are way to expensive to stay. And most people arrange their vacation via a travel agency and there are not that many arranged trips to HH.

I think most foreign tourist in HH are regular or previous Thailand travellers who know about the place.

For reasonably priced guest houses, check out the sponsors of this web site. There are still diamonds to be found.

From todays Bangkok Post:

HAMBURG: The Gulf airline Emirates has signed a letter of intent to buy 60 more Airbus planes, comprising 30 A330-300s and 30 A350s, its chief executive Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed alMaktoum said here yesterday.

He was in this northern port city to take delivery of Emirates’ first A380 super jumbo jet.

The long-haul A330 and A350 aircraft have a catalogue price of about $200 million (€125 million) apiece, which would value the order at about $12 billion, though large customers normally obtain discounts.

Emirates is the biggest Middle Eastern airline and has withstood the rising price of jet fuel which has caused major concern for carriers around the world.

The largest customer of the Airbus A380 with 58 on order, Emirates said in June it would launch non-stop service between Dubai and New York on August 1, the first service to the United States with the world’s biggest passenger jet.

Other destinations scheduled to be served with the A380 were London, Sydney and Auckland.

‘‘A380 will represent... one of the essential pillars for Emirates’ growth in the future,’’ Sheikh Maktoum said on Saturday.
Emirates has had a long wait for delivery of the A380 superjumbo after repeated Airbus delays. The first plane was initially scheduled for delivery in October 2007.

At catalogue prices, the A380 orders were worth some $18.8 billion.

In November, Emirates signed a firm order for 70 A350 planes, designed to use less fuel like its rival Boeing 787.

The airline had also taken an option for 50 more Airbus aircraft.

The letter of intention announced here concerned 30 of those 50 planes, bringing firm orders to 100, Airbus said.

The year has gotten off to a good start for the European plane maker despite problems facing its customers, and Airbus announced orders worth around $40 billion at the Farnborough air show.

But the second half of the year would probably bring a fall in orders, the plane maker has warned, resulting in total orders this year of around 850 aircraft, below the level posted in 2007

When does the "low season" end?

The reason I ask this question is that I prefer the lack of tourista. We will be in LOS from 9/11 to 10/11 and the in-laws are already planning our open house (we will be staying in our new Bang Bua Tong "townhouse") and a program in Phuket.

Needless to say I need to make my escape to HH. So should I go early before mid-Sept. or late after mid-Sept. or does it make any difference?

We were in HH last in June 2007 which I enjoyed. So will it be rainier in Sept/Oct or was June 2007 what can be expected?

Enquiring minds want to know !!

Officially it ends on October 31st - at least that's when the hotels all stick their prices up.

There will definitely be fewer tourists around in September, as for the rain you can never tell - some years its 3 feet deep in October and others get the deluge in May/June.
