Lomuamart,

THIS ONLY APPLIES TO DOING BORDER RUN IN GENERAL

Westerners entering SEA countries have to pay the corresponding entry visa while ASIANS don't, this assures them of an entry into these countries without hussles and questions ask (apart from those suspicious aliens) for obvious reasons BILATERAL AGREEMENT and ASSOCIATION OR UNIONS between nations in this case.

But why ASIANS doing the same thing in western countries they have to show lots and lots of papers, documentations, bank account etc.. and they are bombarded with questions and no asurance of permission for entry.A form of racism yah??

I remember my first trip to Indonesia I am shock seeing the sign that people from USA need to pay for an entry visa (they are one of those of only 10 countries not exempted)Just wondering... that's America!!

Australia has the strictest Immigration. From what I have watched on a TV show in Australia Network cable ('Australian Immigration' i think is the show--- Monday nights I guess) real dramas at Airport Immigrations. There's an epidode about a British-Sudanese guy with his Aussie wife, treated badly by Immigration authorities.

Why not have NO PASSAGE BOUNDERIES for all citizens of the world!possible??????

I was thinking of this issue as my first post but it has been diverted now.

Westerners entering Thailand for less than 30 days don't have to pay anything. It's called a visa exempt stamp. ( Limit of 90 cumulative days on those over 6 months).
Westerners entering Malaysia pay nothing and get a 90 day visa.
Westerners entering Laos or Cambodia do have to pay - it's a while since I crossed those borders, but 1,400 and 1,200 Baht respectively seem about right.
Thais pay 30 Baht for a border pass into Burma. They also have to pay for the passes to enter Laos and Cambodia - I'm not sure how much. Thais can enter Malaysia for 30 days with a passport - free, I believe.

My wife visited the UK 2 years ago. She had no problem with her visa. It was approved in three days. Yes, there's lots of paperwork, but when we did it, it didn't take much time and it was properly presented. No problem.

On the other hand, staying long term in Thailand, despite being married to a Thai national, is becoming more difficult. I appreciate that some countries are hard on documentation for spouses to visit or reside. However, do you have any idea how difficult it is now for a farang to do so here in Thailand with their's?

I wish boundaries were easier to navigate, but I'm afraid that isn't going to happen in my lifetime
