Having lived in China ( ok Hong Kong ) for 25 years nothing really fazes me about the Chinese cause I know what they are capable of.... But to fake the Olympics is just too much. Not only was the opening ceremony faked, fake fireworks on tv to make it look good, but they even sent an innocent 9 year old girl out to sing and then faked her voice with another..... The central govenment in Beijing thinks the world will accept this...casue they think we are all as thick as the mainland Chinese ( maybe we are !).but we are not...and it is an insult to the world's intelligence that the Chinese do this......sorry to rant but things like this piss me off........If the Chinese want to be treated seriously in this world then they must be more honest....end of rant...

seems theres also "fake fans" now as well....
reports on the Beeb and others are saying that a lot of tickets to some of the more unpopular events are going unused, were bought for presents or collectors value, etc... this means at some events there are big gaps in the audience....so the govt have drafted in a rent-a-crowd of extras that they bus in to the events to fill up the gaps and make it look full. More funny than offensive, but still a bit mad.
The fireworks scam looked great, but why bother? It took them nearly a year to CGI up the 55 second slot including camera shake and smog effects...why not just use real fireworks? They invented them for gods sake!
The lass singing is way out of order. Thats just downright bad. Poor little lass who provided the voice tho seems ok with it but why the hell do that?
I know a lot of the madness is all about saving face, but why bother? Face gets lost surely when the facade falls away and everyone sees the scams....
...makes you wonder about the wee wee tests as well eh?

add fake ethnic minorities to the list
it seems the child representatives of all the different ethnic groups that make up China at the opening were all....erm.....Han Chinese.
Particularly insulting to the Tibetans and Uighurs ....
That would be like the Brits at 2012 using all white kids to represent the Indian, Pakistani, Jamaican etc sections of the population.

add fake passports to the list
seems that two gymnasts are now accused of faking their dates of birth so that they got to compete. Of course the PRC Govt was quick to supply passport copies....showing suspiciously high ages for the pair. ....both of whom look clearly underage.
Seems a lot of documents that showed their ages were also removed from online sources or show doctoring to remove the names.....problem is they forgot to remove the cached versions and now they are all over the internet....

will the IOC do the right thing and strip them of their medals......well lets see. Personally I doubt it.

CNN and BBC over here have a dog bite on it now. The IOC is investigating one gymnastics girl for being 14. The minimum is 16. I haven't heard about a second girl. Let's see what happens. Pete

if they get found out to be underage then stripping the medals isnt enough
1) Strip medals from them AND the team...they helped the team event so all loose their medals;
2) Impose a 5 year ban on them so they cant compete next time, also to include all international events in the meantime.
3) Ban the team coach from the sport for the same time.
So bloody what if they supply PRC supplied documents.....would you trust a word the Chinese govt says....why close down access to the relevant online sources and quash all local discussion? Why modify one sheet just after the Time report, then withdraw it all together?
