Don't pay. It is a mistake. 315 Baht is high enough. Even if you let all the water available back out into the drains you would struggle to use 2,482 Baht. Check the meter yourself. It may have been misread or could be someone on the fiddle. The bills are easy to forge but the metre is very difficult to tamper with.

I have heard of neighbors tapping into your electricity supply but it is hardly worth it for water.

Also as Pete said it is supposed to be free nationwide at the moment. We got our last bill six weeks ago and we are not expecting another for six months.

Just a side comment off thread for a moment. We get six months of fuel subsidies for our cars also. With oil now at about $92 and falling, plus the subsidies, we may be at 10 baht per liter again for diesel before it's all over! I can dream. :D Pete

If it's a no-no to post these links, a Mod please delete them. I haven't read them but tey may shed some light on the question. Somewhere there is also a Thai Gov web site that explains this. As I mentined above 300+ and 500+ some odd baht the last two months reduced to zero. Pete

I just read somewhere else that the free water and electric is not for commercial establishments. This means if your house is registered under a company name, either by you or your landlord if you rent, it seems you don't qualify? Pete

Obviously, I wouldn't dream of using the links you provided, Pete, but our water bill has gone down substantially, although it hasn't disappeared altogether.

Not having a pool, however, it's really not something I can get too worked up about!

Electricity however...
This is the way

You will forgive me pete if i disregard Thai visa .com forum I live in Hua Hin and i dont know anyone that is not paying water bills .
Plus using my intimately superior experience of Older thai women

Put your USA swimmer with his 10 gold medals and line up 6/7 thai women and instead of a gun shout first to the end get ^%^^ FREE and he would look like a one legged zero footed duck and come a distant last
and yet when i asked my neighbours they thought i was a nutter :? :? :| :|

So question is there anyone in HUA HIN NOT paying for water

What isn't understood about the term NATIONWIDE PROGRAM? It was in every damn Thai and English newspaper, as well as on the Thai TV news.

Is Hua Hin now a separate country?

I am just the messenger. I suggest someone go to your water department and ask, as it appears Guess is not paying for his water. Maybe he is the only one south of Bangkok?

Heaven forbid that perhaps you are getting cheated by a crooked local water department? Pete

Pete i have asked the guy 2 doors from me that works for the water dept and he dont know shit, now if there are others in HUA HIN that are not paying i will be climbing out of my pram, but so far i have heard from HH who is paying and me that is paying and my friend Fred the dutchman and he is paying so are all my Thai neighbours, and i just dont think they would pay a brass razoo if they did not have to plus i get 2 thai language newspapers every day which the whole soi read and nobody has said anything about free water
so i will ask the question again

Is there anyone in HUA HIN NOT paying water bills

I'm not paying for water neither is any of my (Thai) neighbours. I asked the Thai guy behind who confirmed that water is free for 6 months up to a limit of usage after which you start to pay again. Also confirmed that if your electricity bill is less than 150 baht (I wish), it is free also
