Water Bills

Post by niggle »

We havent had a water bill for 3 months now. When I went to the office they just shrugged their shoulders and wouldnt take any payment - "cannot cannot".
I asked a Thai guy who lives next door and he has heard that the water board are planning 6 monthly or even yearly billing. Anyone heard this ?

There's a 6 month plan in place Niggle where the government is paying your water bill as an economic incentive. You should still get a bill though.

Over here we had 450 baht last month reduced to 0, and just a few days ago a 525 baht bill reduced to 0. There is a limit, but I don't know the liter amount.

Each province and water authority may be different concerning issuing '0 payable' bills or not.

The same thing is happening with electricity but you need to use very little to get a zero bill, average to what a small Thai household would use. I don't know the kilowat hour limit but it is very small from what I understand.

I would say that around New Year, you'll start receiving water bills again. Pete

If so, you people are getting screwed. This is a NATION WIDE economic incentive program. If HH or similar is still charging for water, the money is going into someone else's pocket, and not the water company.

I suggest you have a neighborhood meeting there to see what's going on. Pete

I've still been receiving the regular monthly bill right through August. No changes here and I live in Hua Hin.

Check for a leak HH outside between the pump and the house, or in the ground between the meter and the pump. Is your pump cycling on and off when no one is using water in the house or garden? Pete

I would add to that check that your tank's ballcock system has not broken and that the water is just leaving the tank and soaking into the ground - this would not cause your pump to run but is how I ended up getting a similar bill a couple of years back.
