given the system is now openly being abused by UDD the handouts should be suspended and replaced with non negotiable shopping tokens like a ration book linked to the recipients ID card
what is happening now is the govt are subsidising the protests....madness.
I read a funny article about a distribution centre in the provinces where the recipients were being chased down the street by debt collectors as soon as they received the cheques....and the police were arresting people they had on their wanted list who turned up to collect the cheque.....
man I love this country! Never a dull day eh?

I personally do not agree with giving out money to the poor as it will be squandered usually, but rather give it to small business to help to create jobs. I also don't think it is fair to quickly judge this handout in Thailand of 2000 baht as being vote buying, because there is an easier, cheaper method and in my opinion Abhisit Vejjajiva is just following the Western nations steps to avoid further financial problems.
I'd agree with that summary.

Thats the spirit serge - spit the dummy and dribble down your shirt when people offer an opposing viewpoint or opinion, now you even sound like your 'dear leader' Khun Thaksin.

Members especially Buksi and SM I humbly and deeply apologise my rhetoric passed a point which I find unnaccepable. I shall therefore retire from this thread until I can express my views in a more gentlemanly manner. Again my sincere apologies
Don't be too hard on yourself. I've looked at the time of the offending posts and as I know where you were and what you were doing yesterday afternoon I, for one, understand.
Many of us have come home after a half day of Changs and got on the forum only to regret it in the cold light of the next morning.
