Swedish food!

Restaurants, food, beverage, hawkers, and local markets and suppliers. This is the place for discussion on Hua Hin's culinary options.

:(

The Stig on BBC Top Gear crashed one, whilst trying a fast lap on a test track. Too much torque to the rear wheels.
He reckoned that it needed a rear spoiler. Looks like they took his advice.

As for the meatballs in Ikea, YUK but will try Eva's when I'm next in HH.

There’s a gem of a little Swedish restaurant called Eva´s hidden on soi 39 abt. 50 meters from
Phetskasem Road. At the Eva’s the traditional goodies are available:

Skomakarlåda, Slottstek, Bruna bönor med saltfläsk, Tjälknöl, Dillkött, Kalops med rödbetor,
Köttfärs med lingonsylt, Fiskgratäng med hummersås and, above all, Janssons frästelse.

Those who know of the excellent Swedish food should be overjoyed. Those who do not know of it,
should get to know it.

The food is excellent and the prices are very good as well.
Does anyone know if this place is open for lunch or have a phone number for it???

Also, when I look at my Hua Hin map, I don't see a Soi 39. I see Soi 35 and Soi 41 or the north and south sides of the Palace grounds respectively, but no 39. It seems that would put Soi 39 at the Palace!???

Thanks

Had lunch there yesterday. I can recommend the Swedish-style beef in dill sauce with potatoes - a hungry man's lunch. Do not expect a French-style cuisine. But good hearty down-to-earth food. :D

I went there for lunch with a Swedish friend. The food was excellent and very reasonably priced. I don't know Swedish food but my friend said it was the best he'd had in a couple of years living in Hua Hin.

It reminded me of the southern U.S. cooking I grew up with; meat and potatoes with gravy. It was delicious and I loved it... will go back for sure!

Thanks again for the heads up, Farang! :thumb:

We went tonight. The steak w/ bacon, gravy, and potatoes was good, and the gf definitely approved of the Tom Yung Goong. The red wine's a good deal, too.

It is a bit like southern US food.

Being a Swede I have tested the Ewa's but to me the food I tasted was only fair. Far better Swedish food is served at Claes opposite Thipurai Hotel as well as Victoria at the Thipurai although Victoria is pricier than Ewa's and Claes.

LAN,

Evidently, you've never traveled much in Northern Europe. "Meat and potatoes" served in various sauces and gravies are the mainstay of many of countries of that region. It's usually the sauce or gravy that make the dish something other than just meat and boiled potatoes.

I lived in Germany for a while and it was hard to find anything other than meat and potatoes (and sour kraut) to eat... but anything is good when washed down with German beer!

Oh and a lot of people outside Southern California don't think bean sprouts are much of a food either... :D

LAXitve

Meat and potatos is a bit like burger and chips without the cardboard taste injection and without processihg to remove all the proteins and goodness :D

Having said that, the best meatballs and boiled potatos I had was in a place in Chicago and was frequented by US businessmen :D
