In Thailand seafood and pork. The wife loves pork.

But like you BaaBaa here in the states, it's beef!! Big juicy, bloody hunks of beef :P

I do hunger for a good steak about the second week in Thailand, so will refer to some of the good recommendations this time.

Last year was in Chumphon and got a great steak at Papa 2000 for a good price. Not the 2 inch thick monsters I get here, but a good, substantial steak by any standards.

I've seen the 10 Baht? sausages that look good, like an english sausage, until you bite into them and realise it's the good old Isaan sausage.
You must have seen them - 1 Baht sausages:

BaaBaa,

I eat almost exclusively Thai food as my wife is a very good cook and she prefers Thai food with a very few exceptions when we go out.

I voted seafood but if you had an "all of the above" selection I would have voted that as I love not only Thai seafood, fish, and prawn dishes, but also chicken, pork, and beef in that order. I even like the meatless dishes like stir fried veggies and som tom Thai mai ou poo.

In a western country, I also like fish, but would opt for beef, pork or chicken in a high quality place in that order.
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

I feast heartily on gods fine chicken.

It is one of the few meats that you can guarantee it is what claims to be. Dark meat could be anything...

I eat it all, that would negate the point of the poll though.
It's when you can't be bothered to look at the menu in a bog standard Thai place, you know the menu already, what do you opt for?

No option for meatless as it's "What meat?"

poll

Post by lindosfan1 »

I voted fish wonderful fresh fish not frozen which spoils the taste, I have a penchant for cotton fish lovely flavour. The other meats I enjoy if good quality.
Shell fish I like but tend to avoid in Thailand after eating clams in a big hotel in Bangkok then spending two days in the toilet.
Good poll some interesting replies already.

I think if most of the respondents were further inland, even Bangkok, you might be correct but there is so much good fresh seafood available in Hua Hin that it is very popular here imo.

My Lady would've gone Goong, but not one vote for the poor little Shrimp.

If it's meat (like Steve G - I could quite happily live without it) then I'd pick chicken - for the same reasons RC mentioned. It's a pretty safe choice here as it's either OK or stringy but never bouncy or tough. I do, however, wish that they didn't chop it into little chunks. I guess I'll have to learn Thai for 'don't chop' - which isn't 'mai chawp'...

Seafood just ain't my scene.
