Out of town? That's almost out of the country!

I've been in HH more than 6 years and still haven't been to Peppers yet.
Or Nata's.
Or Kor Sor.

For farang food, especially a Sunday lunch treat, don't forget that place up near Naab Thong - Palm something.

"Out of town? That's almost out of the country!"

Yes, but it is well worth the 30 minute drive.

Agree with both. FYI: At Seb Neur after it rains the low lying area between it and the railroad has the smell of decaying vegetation. Might bother some people.

OP asked for specific dishes at specific restaurants. Thai menus tend to offer the same short list of dishes. Haven't seen much innovation in the different versions of any one dish, just differences in quality. IMHO the good restaurants do most things well. I've always been pleased with the squid at mini farm, for example. I think any difference in my preference of one squid dish over another is mostly about my taste preferences, not their execution.

Have to include a seafood restaurant. Can't give a straight answer here.

Most consistent pier restaurant is Ketsarin. HOWEVER, best fish I've had in town was at that big place on the pier at the seaward end of Dechanuchit. But I've also been served food that shouldn't have left the kitchen. One of my favorite dishes came out one time with the sauce curdled into granular clumps. Others have been overcooked. I'd rather have consistently very good than occasionally crappy.

Favorite seafood restaurant not on a pier is Moo Sea Food. Part of the night market, in front of the 7/11 at corner of soi 72 and Sa Song.

I always enjoyed that boat style restaurant in Takiap. Nothing outstand, but reasonably priced and a lovely setting. Khor Sor resort is another good one in my opinion, as is the Anatasila (spelling?) on Takiap beach.

Nowadays however, I mostly feast on home cooked food. :thumb:

My top 3 would be (and sorry, I don't know the names of 2 of them.... )
1.A restaurant on Soi 78, on the left virtually as soon as you turn into the soi from Petchkasem - you can't miss it. It's a lovely leafy garden restaurant, run by a very friendly family, and the food is great. I guess it's what would be called a standard Thai menu (there is Western stuff as well but can't say what that's like) and when we first went there we made a point of saying we liked spicy food. It has been consistantly good, in particular our favourites are the duck salad, tom yum, and the chicken with cashew nuts which has lots of those big dried red chillies. Wonderful food, very friendly, leafy and relaxing.
2.'Seaside'. As you walk down Naresdamri from the Hilton, take the first on the right towards the sea and this restaurant is on the left. Again consistently good Thai food with very fresh seafood and, once more, a lovely setting (we initially asked here too, if we could have our food as if we were Thai).
3.A vegetarian place just off Chomsin, cross at Sra Song and turn left before the Chinese Shrine and it's on the left, just into A4 on the Hua Hin After Dark map. This has a great selection of Thai veg food and different interesting stuff everyday (It's very much a 'hole in the wall' type place - you don't go for the setting).

Oh yes, must mention the congee (chok?) place in the Night Market (between Sra Song and the railway line). With a raw egg dropped in. Fab.

I'm really hungry now.

And lets not forget a couple of the forum sponsors that have two of the best places around to eat;

Terrace 90
Naab Thong
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

Are they good because they are forum sponsors, or are they really good? Only asking as they don't get much of a mention from anyone except yourself and dozer. Anyway, haven't tried them myself but will when next back in HH, along with some of the other recommendations.

One comment though, would posters please help out us non-residents by providing some idea of where all of these places are located.........much appreciated

Well, I've also mentioned them both on more than one occasion, but I'll happily do it again - they are both excellent - very different but excellent in their own different way.

Looks like you want everything on a plate, aragon, so to speak! Addresses, maps, directions are all on the forum if you have a look round, but they can hardly be posted every time a place is mentioned. If there's anywhere specific you can't find, feel free to ask. :thumb:

You'll also find that the two sponsors mentioned above have their own threads on the forum with lots of comments from lots of members.

Being a sponsor gives you the right to blow your own trumpet, but it doesn't guarantee you a positive review from anyone else!

Andy
So if you had a choice of 3 places to go where would you go was the question

Me?

Bam Bams................Thai
All in Hua Hin.............German and it's salads
CoCo51....................All the above (Ambiance, presentation and fat wallet)
JW's.........................Good solid pub grub

Oops, that's 4
Richard, have to agree with you on Bam Bam's, found it to be one of the only places I ate at in Hua Hin that did not dumb down the spice of the food for the Tourists, so will always get my vote for that alone as well as the food being very good as well. Also agree with JW's bar food, always very good.
I am not sure if the Monsoon is still operating, but if it is, it would also be one of my favorites
