Re: What food you miss in Hua Hin?
I was never able to find black or red licorice in Thailand!, I brought my own
for my last visit to HH and was glad I did. Also Cinnamon hearts or other
candies of that flavor. I just don't have the taste buds for most Thai candy, even tho I try them all once, when my young nieces and nephews offer them to me.
Most times I comment, Yeah! good for Thai kids, not so good for old Farang like me!

Stargazer. Readily available at the OK supermarket in Cha-am.
Red and black licorice that is.

Plenty of licorice in Villa market. Red and black.

Could a Deli with local, reasonably priced quality products, such as cheese, special bread etc., and nicely priced imports of Mediterranean kitchen grab your attention?
Along with a reasonably priced wine?

Looking for a niche, seasides?
There isn't much that's not available in HH. The answer to your question is almost certainly a rousing 'maybe'.
There are a number of bakeries producing a good variety of European and Scandinavian breads now. There also several options for a wide variety of cheeses and cold meat.
Presumably you mean Mediterranean cuisine? Over the counter or deli/restaurant?
Too many undefinables, the main one in your post being 'reasonably priced'. One man's reasonably priced is another man's coronary. Location will also be crucial.
Having said that, the more options, the better, as far as I'm concerned.

I'm not sure selling things like wine and cheese at reasonable prices is possible here. Those are luxury items in Thailand and two of my biggest grocery expenses every month.
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

That's exactly my point hhfarang.hhfarang wrote:I'm not sure selling things like wine and cheese at reasonable prices is possible here. Those are luxury items in Thailand and two of my biggest grocery expenses every month.
Reasonably priced meaning better priced than the rest. And there's local blue cheese of high quality, locally made Mediterranean cheeses, not to mention olives and stuff bought in bulk sizes coming at better prices...
Yes, I'm searching for a pleasurable niche and think that could be one. Nice setting, good location near night market (albeit harder and harder to find parking...)
Sandwiches, maybe burgers, vinotheque... I sense a market. Especially the longstayers here, and there are more and more of them, are longing for these overpriced food items we grew up with.

The thing I miss most, come to think of it, is not from England, but from Koh Pha Ngan/Samui: Noname. Plenty of bars and restaurants called noname, but nowhere that actually sells the stuff!

Almirante, why not visit Hua Hin Ham and Bacon. I never tried the other things you mention but the sausages are great there.

Have to agree with Bamboo about Ham and bacon.
Best black pudding outside of Bury and their Lincolnshire sausages are delicious.
Now, what about Tizer (The Appetizer) and dandelion and Burdock!

Re: What food you miss in Hua Hin?
You have obviously never tried Stornoway Black pudding if your of such opinions.
Re: What food you miss in Hua Hin?
Indian food, well as it is in UK. I've tried it a couple of times here and doesn't match up to Indian food in UK or India.
Re: What food you miss in Hua Hin?
^ Where have you tried it "a couple of times". There must be 30 Indian food outlets now in the area (I spot a new one nearly every time I drive around town) so if you haven't tried them all keep looking and you may find what you're looking for.
