OK, that's the one in the picture BB, it's the ex-USS Hemminger, a Cannon Class Escort Destroyer launched in 1943, she was sat off the coast in December:

 We packed up and left for home at 5. I've just read the salute took place at 5:30 :banghead:

Steve, I'm sure you're right - it looks very much like the photo of a ship on the horizon at dusk that buksida posted a few months back. Of course, she could have been there, my eyes aren't getting any younger

From what I can make out this was the lead ship:

And this was the second ship:

If you look behind the 2nd ship, you can see the others were only small.

Anybody know when the Petchkasem road re-opens.
I note it closes at 3pm today but cannot see anywhere when it will be open again.
Thanks

The police were trying to get traffic to use both sides of the Klong road earlier with the resultant confusion. It was quiet when I passed but was also developing into two two-way systems. If you have to use it I would be very careful and avoid if possible. It does look like the three o'clock closure has turned into noon closure of Petkasem instead.

I just came into town on the airport bus and it went via the bypass and soi 112 without too much delay. Got home on a scooter and the centre of town was busy but not gridlocked.

I've been out and about a bit this afternoon, and there are a lot of headless chickens (out of town plates) just driving around in circles looking for somewhere to park their cars. Most roadside parking on the main drag has gone.

Having said the above, I have to agree with Steve, its not gridlock.

Yes, when I realised I was on a bus due to hit Hua Hin at three I thought I might be in for a lengthy journey but it turned out OK.

My wife got home 20 mins ago and came right past the palace.
Says she asked a policeman and he said that Petchkasem isn't closed until tomorrow. Who knows?
