England's decision to exclude prop Mako Vunipola as a precautionary measure against coronavirus was "unnecessary", says Public Health England (PHE).
Vunipola was stood down for England's Six Nations match with Wales after recently travelling through Hong Kong.
The prop has trained with Saracens this week and will start against Leicester in the Premiership on Saturday.
"PHE current guidance on coronavirus is clear on when self-isolation is necessary," a PHE tweet said.
"Earlier this week the RFU asked a player, having returned from travel overseas, to not attend the camp to avoid the risk of spread, which was not necessary as he was not displaying any symptoms.
"The RFU accept this and this clarification."
Having said that, the RFU were perfectly entitled to take a more cautious approach, and I think the whole thing is in danger of being blown out of proportion.

Can't agree. Tuilangi went to tackle a guy running for the line, but the guy got tackled and was on his way down. Nothing he could do about it.
I think the game has gone too far in its concern for head injuries. Perhaps we should all wear helmets, have huddles instead of scrums, make blocking legal and have cheerleaders. Or allow touch tackles only. Grown-up tag.

To be honest I'm very surprised at that also - not something I would expect from AWJ, although he was obviously completely gutted at the loss (as am I.... )

I liked Gareth Thomas`s post match discussion, he said along the lines of "if that was allowed I`d still be playing"
