I think one thing that is revealing is that when the PPP gave Somak the job of Prime Minister, the primary reason given for his selection was that he was one of the few polititions who had the seniority and connections to face up to the leading members of the privvy council who had been reportedly behind the coup.
If that is the case, what are we to conclude from the Democrats giving the job to a 44 year old without those connections?

interesting thread this in light of the last week or 4
thought i would relight it just to remind people i gave Abhisit the benefit of the doubt and said what would remove that benefit

he did not last a week

his policies for the poor in 15 months diddley squat

and to answer the last post the democrats are at the end of the connections strings

Of course it will never happen but I would have liked to have seen what Abhisit has PM would have done for this country if he did not have to carry all the assorted baggage (dare I say, garbage).

It would be an interesting exercise to trace the actual source of the Democrats dodgy funding that the Election commitee is presently getting excited about.

bear in mind my chums that the EC suddenly came to this decision a day or so AFTER the reds inavded the ECs offices and made publicly reported direct threats of violent retribution against the chairman and panel members. Threats repeated again by the so called "leaders" of the mob. (Post, NAtion and TNN)

Another rather salient point.... The EC have admitted that the investigation is incomplete, witnesses are still to be interviewed and evidence to be gathered. They said that the day BEFORE the building invasion.... (again Post and TNN).

This seems to me to be the usual Thai Two Step aka Pass The Buck.

EC punts an incomplete and half baked case to the AG under fear of attacks on them by red loons. AG then punts it back as the case still has holes in it. EC punts it to the AG after a period of reconsideration.... and so on.

Standard Thai avoid any responsibility tactics we see day in day out.

How long did it take to throw out the TRT and the PPP and 2 prime ministers

Not 3 years and still
The EC have admitted that the investigation is incomplete, witnesses are still to be interviewed and evidence to be gathered.
and how many decades would it have taken to finish it

i think the reds call that double standards

Let's see.........a few thousand people decide they don't like the present government so they put on yellow shirts and start protesting. We have to keep this handful of people happy so we throw the government out and get a new one set up. Oh dear, now there's another handful of people who don't like the new government so they dress themselves in red and start protesting. Ooooops, we can't have that so let's throw the new government out as well. A new governments comes to power and of course there will once again be a handful who don't approve. No doubt we'll see the orange polka dot movement spring up next, only to be followed by the candy striped pinks, or whatever other color they choose.

You can't keep changing governments every time a few thousand people in a country of 66 million don't approve.

Conclusion:-

As a fine English gentle once said to me..........Thais are not childish, but they are child-like. Let's face it, it doesn't take much for them to spit the dummy when things don't go their way.

Even if the present government are thrown out, do you really for a minute think the entire country will accept the new crowd who get into power. Maybe I'm wrong but I doubt it.
Don't try to impress me with your manner of dress cos a monkey himself is a monkey no less - cold fact

The problem, as I see it, is not about a few thousand people changing governments because they don't like them, it's about a very few people at the peak of Thai society who think that they own the country and are above what any number of normal of people think.

Steve,

I asked a Naresuan soldier who is a friend, why do you support the PPP and Samak?

He replied, I like Thaksin because he raised our pay.

Who are the Naresuan soldiers allied to? We cannot talk about that.

Why would Thaksin raise their pay? So they will not fight him, as we are seeing with the current RIOTS.

There is a coup happening but its not against the government.
