Not quite arrested - A spokesman for Portsmouth said on Wednesday that the club's chief executive and manager had "been asked to help police with their inquiries concerning a matter dating back to 2003". Not to worry Frank Bruno is acting on their behalf "you no wot I mean Arry"

There's a load of nonsense from 'Arry about this on the beeb, that he had to be arrested to go the Police station to act as a witness, as it's wot 'appens. That's not so! You are usually only arrested / cautioned when you are suspected of committing an offence.

So far the line from the man and his solicitor is that its to do with events in 2003 not directly relating to him.

Time will tell.

I forgot to add posh spice as assistant mgr as she is the only one that can keep our free kick specialist standing for 90 minutes. :D :D :mrgreen:

And then with my newly proposed mgr buying (note word) the odd few free (note word) kicks each game /half we are home and away. :lach:

genius solution :bow: :bow: :bow:

Actually I don't think that is quite correct caller; if the police want to question someone who either is related to a suspect or they feel is likely to refuse to co-operate voluntarily, I believe they will arrest them, even if they are not a suspect.

That seems to be his gripe? It does appear a bit strong to try and arrest him at 6am if he's just a witness? But does rather beg the question why the Police think he is not a willing witness?

This applies (from code G of PACE as amended):

2 Elements of Arrest under section 24 PACE

2.1 A lawful arrest requires two elements:

A person’s involvement or suspected involvement or attempted involvement in the

commission of a criminal offence;

AND

Reasonable grounds for believing that the person’s arrest is necessary.

caller,
Although i would be quite happy to see 'Arry as England manager, his dealings as a club manager have always had a dodgy feel to them, as I have pointed out on a number of occasions in conversations to others about my beloved club West Ham; he is a great coach and decent tactician, but I wouldn't trust him as far as I could throw him with money! I imagine the investigation involves transfer dealings while he was at Portsmouth first time round based on who else was arrested, so as he is again Portsmouth manager I think it is a fairly obvious assumption by the police that they would have trouble getting him to talk without arresting him. Knowing how slippery he is though, I can't see him being charged with anything, but it will almost certainly have done for any slim chance he had of being the next England manager.

It was really very lucky that a photographer from the Sun newspaper just happened to be passing Arry's house at 6:00 in the morning to catch it all on film :roll:

:idea: There couldn't be any connection with their campaign to get Jose as the next England boss could there? :cheers: :thumb:
