I think the emphasis there should be on the full. However, I think people need to know what will happen in the transitional 13 days leading up to that point.

Is anybody attempting to put together a cunning plan for the transitional period?

Richard - just heard from a friend in Malaysia that there were no trains up from Butterworth today due to flooding. HadYai has got it bad as per usual. Hopefully by 6th your friend should be OK but should check.

As for the outcome of the protests so far - well, I wish we could have gotten rid of Thatcher in a similar fashion! The miners were clearly picketing the wrong places. As Wolfie used to say - Power to the People

And BTW the King has just apologised bless him. Long may he continue to reign.

Our EVA air flight has been cancelled for the 6th and no available seats until 21st. I can now only get a BA flight for the 8th at a significant price rise!! Lets hope we can fly then. Hopefully we will know more tomorrow as to when the airport will open. At the moment I have seen reports of the 4th, 5th, 11th and 15th December.

The latest from the operator is that they will try to make a statement as to when they can open after making an inspection tomorrow morning.

I think you should be happy if you fly in on the 8th, no flights will be going in tommorrow.

PAD arent even moving until 10 AM toorrow and then there is the small matter of security checks and getting permission off the world governing body.

10th at the earliest IMO.

Just escaped. Taxi to Hat Yai. One night there, then another taxi to Penang. Fly Penang to KL, then KL to HK and then back to London. Wow!!

(BangkokPost.com) - Thai Airways International (THAI) decided Wednesday to sue People's Alliance for Democracy for about 20 billion baht for closing Suvarnabhumi and Don Muaeng airports for a week, resulting in the cut in its revenue.

Permanent secretary of Transport Ministry Surachai Tansitpong, who also serves as chairman of THAI, said the anti-government protests at the two airports cause the company to be at a disadvantage because it had to cancel all flights during the demonstration.

The initial solution plan, he said, is to ask for the government for financial assistance to increase liquidity of the company.

A THAI flight from Phuket became the first plane to land at Suvarnabhumi airport on Wednesday afternoon, with international services to Sydney, New Delhi, Narita, Frankfurt, Seoul and Copenhagen due later in the day.

More than 350,000 travellers were trapped in Thailand by the chaos,
with governments around the world operating emergency flights to
evacuate desperate tourists.

My daughter was due to fly London/BKK........departing on the 5th and arriving during afternoon of the 6th. Thai Airways in London are saying this morning that London/BKK flights are not expected to resume for several days.

Why do the local airport management keep issuing statements to the effect that normal operations will be resumed by 4/5th December when this is obviously not the case.

:? :(

Peter i have just been through all this with Etihad today.

They are saying that they have no info on flights yet. ( mine was 7th Dec)

Yet the ticket company i purchased my ticket are saying they had an E/mail from Etihad today saying flights are back to normal from the 6th.

On calling Etihad regarding this they still say they have no information on flights or e/mail sent.

Something is wrong somewhere, and prob is related to making a few extra£££

And the reason i say a few extra £££ is because while talking to Netflights.com they said i could get a refund up to the 7th and rebook with Etihad for a flight on the 11th for an extra £400.

had a flight booked with emirates for the 10th which i found out has been cancelled?! thought the airport was back in business tomorrow?

told me i could divert to kuala lumpur instead, but that was fully booked.

just had to payout another £200 to get another flight to kl, and then a flight down to phuket!

absolute nightmare

We was suppose to fly out with Qatar on the 2nd Dec, the flight was cancelled. Eventually had to take a refund and get another flight with KLM (fo nearly double ££) to KL on the 8th Dec.

We hope to fly to Bangkok on the 9th Dec from KL but still unsure...might have to fly to Phuket.

Quick question...

Is the VIP bus the best way to get to Hua Hin from Phuket?
(don't fancy 8-10 hour coach ride :( )

If so where do you get the VIP bus to Hua Hin? Can you get it from Phuket airport? How much is it?

Another option for us is to go to Penang this year but really want to come back to Hua Hin...

Hi Bushido

2 years ago you had to get the VIP bus from Phuket town the Phuket/Bangkok bus goes via Hua Hin but still is a long ride, not sure how much but very cheap with food and drink!

News here are saying that the airport will be fully functional on 15th December, however flights have already started, one from phuket bangkok yesterday. It's a mess.
