Hopefully the police/army will step aside and let pro-gov supporters in to give them a good shoeing. Cleaning crew come in to mop up, half a day max, might get to see family after all
I don't condone violence but there's always the odd exception.
The red team will have 300 taxi drivers following in behind them for sure.

i am just hopeful that the protest finishes with a peaceful outcome.
to the watching world, the protest looks peaceful enough regardless of the political slant & the rights & wrongs of the situation.
i'm sure that whatever your current predicament is, or whatever your personal politics are, i doubt anyone would want to see the authorities charge in with tear gas & wielding batons (or worse )
that would have an even bigger & more negative impact on thailand & it's reputation.
fingers crossed things get sorted quickly & peacefully

Immigration police have been asked to exempt fines for those whose visas have expired while stranded.
Fat chance of that.
I remember Thaksin making an international press statement following the tsunami that people overstaying visas would be exempt. I got a fine along with countless others for 'unreadable' 90 day report stamps. Immigration are probably rubbing their hands together with glee at this, Christmas has come early for them.

Me too, PAD can make that happen in a minute.
But what goes around comes around, these protesters have no regard for the taxi drivers, small hotels, small restaurants, shops, etc that are being deprived of money to feed their families cos of their selfish acts. Jobs will be lost.
They have a choice, leave peacefully or face the consequences.

It should be pointed out that the government have had several months in which they could have made a choice to end the confrontation by resigning as well; and you can be sure that neither they or the power behind the government are crying any tears for the poor taxi drivers etc. Both sides are wrong, end of story.
Family booked Sat on Eva Air, Mum just rang her travel agent and was told its been cancelled already and she would get 100% refund, but may take a while.
They can not swap them onto a.n.other Eva Air flight, economy or evergreen deluxe as all seats fully booked until after Christmas day.
They could put them on a Thai airways flight as seats availability from 29th November, but they said they're getting calls and bookings for Thai Airways constantly, so may not last long.
Don't know about in-direct flights.
Bet they'll be whacking the prices up on these in-demand seats.

And I'm sure Thaksin and the government have their best interests at heart while they're off overseas spending their tax money which should have gone back into Thailand.

Give in to violence protests and set a precedent. Not for me.
If PAD have evidence the government got in by bribing etc then in a democracy you follow the rule of law and pursue it through the courts. Machetes, knives, guns etc is the law of the jungle.

I've always agreed with that too. He should get his too.

Yeah I agree with that too, maybe I've given the impression I'm pro-current Government or Thaksin, I'm not at all.
Just a believer in rule of law, anti-trying to get your own way using violence, taking over airports illegally etc. And I believe they should be given a deadline to leave and if they choose not to then remove them as non-violently as possible. Inevitably they'll be some bad scenes though.
super joe,
please explain how you would respond to this government.
they are trying to change the constitution without a referendum. changes that would allow banned politicians to return to politics and also Mr T. to return to Thailand, a free man. forget the two year sentence and forget the thousand million pounds that he stole from the Thai people. also forget the attempted bribe of a high court judge. what about the violence used by government supporters on the PAD. how many bombs need to be thrown at them.?? normal protests will have no effect on this government. so if your Thai and you care about your country please tell me what to do.? not the ballot box, vote buying removes that option. remember not so long ago Nelson Mandela was considered a terrorist.
