Stupid Sports

Post by Checker »

For a bit of fun and not to offend anyone, name the 3 most "Stupid Sports" at the olympics that should be dropped.

A. Handball - I don't get it.
B. Taekwondo - Should be called Tae Kwon Dancing.
C. Beach Volley Ball - Although the girls do look great.
It's now or never.

The one that stunned me was the BMX cycling thing, how did that ever get into the Olympics? I thought it was just something kids played around at.
Before you know it there’ll be gold medals for play-station games!

The BMX is new this year Steve. There's another that was just introduced this year as well, but I can't remember what it is. :( Bloody old age a'creeping.

Baseball is out after this olympics. Perhaps to be replaced by cricket? :P

Look at the winter olympics, they have snow boarding now. Not racing but the trick flips and jumps etc. Pete

Pete, I think the Keirin cycling event was new as well. It’s some type of track pursuit event from Japan in which the UK somehow managed to get a gold medal.
Cricket featured in the 1900 Olympics in which a British team beat a French team that apparently consisted mainly of the staff from the Paris British embassy; nobody else entered!

The NBA AllStar Exhibition Matches.

Basketball should stay, just leave the well overpaid 'pros' out.

The one where the girls do a bit of ballet with a hoop or a bit of coloured string. They'll be spinning plates at the next one.

That Dressage thing where you get a horse to prance around a ring seems a bit strange to me as well.

Well they should have Muay Thai.

They have horses prancing about and other obscure events but not one of the biggest sports in Asia.

Plus Thailand would probably get a few Golds.

Olympic chest beating

Post by charlesh »

now U can c why the expression on ya bike has an English origin - well done the Poms! As for the rest of the "sports" it is an opportunity for some Neroesque chest beating (or fiddling) and the more sports the more snouts in the trough from an ever increasing number of countries. I am opting for trainspotting. Isn't it great to C some truly amateur sports men and women achieve a pinnacle ( mountainclimbing 1) ? As for the Yanks - the worlds largest resource user and China the worlds largest polluter - they have paid a pretty price for each medal earned!
I suppose it beats going to war - sorry Russians!
