HH Immigration - a good story

Post by lomuamart »

After rushing around BKK on Tuesday and Wednesday this week getting a UK Embassy letter confirming my UK monthly income, I went to Imm this morning to apply for my first annual extension based on retirement - I turned 50 a few weeks ago.
I've got nothing but praise for the service. Arrived at 8.45am and I'd had all my papers checked and the stamp was in my passport by 9.15am. There was then a short wait outside for the Immigration Chief to initial the extension and I was away just after 10am.
Two copies of the details page of passport, original Non Imm O visa, entry stamp and departure card were necessary first. Application form, one passport photo. Embassy letter confirming my monthly income. Rental contract of our residence here, together with a hand-drawn map of the location. 1,900 Baht.
That was it. I had other information, but wasn't asked for any.
After 10 years living in HH, I'm now the proud possessor of an annual extension. No more visa runs. A relief.
HHAD dosn't get rid of me so easily :thumb:
BTW: for Brits, Imm were converting GBP at 61 Baht.

Good news lomu.
I think you've been worrying about this for a long time so I'm happy you finally made it.
Guess it's time for a beer or two?

What is the monthy rate they want you to receive now and shouldn't it be here every month?

Greavsy

Had a chat with Lomu this morning whilst he started his celebrations and he said a letter from the embassy was needed of proof of gross income deposited in any bank on the globe. I assume you are refering to monies being transfered to a Thai bank

Correct me if I'm wrong Lomu or whoever :D

It's a minimum of 65K a month from overseas income. There's no need to bring that into Thailand. The Embassy letter certifies everything.
I suppose that Imm would be within their rights to ask for foreign bank statements to see that you were drawing from a foreign account to support yourself here. The inference could always be that you were working illegally.
I had all that information and it's necessary anyway for The British Embassy before they'll issue you with the confirmatory letter. Imm didn't ask for the statements. The letter did the trick.
I think - and I don't mean anything bad about this - that the USA Embassy just need their citizens to swear that the income they claim is true.
The British Embassy require proof. Take a look at the British Embassy's website. It's all explained there. I've done it all this week, so if I can be of any more help - just ask.

Absolute classic. Do the Irish need to bring the Blarney Stone?

I think the reality is most people do not have problems with immigration issues, you only hear about the bad stories like anything in life.

I agree as well. Mentioned before I use Mataput over here. They've just posted a time schedule for all services, ranging from 15 minutes to a max of 45 for the most complicated. Always a smile, always call you by your first name when called to the window. They'll even go to their in-house copy maching and make a copy for you if you've forgotten something. Big screen TV set on BBC or similar, free coffee, tons of English reading material. Nice garden with fish pond outside to sit if you're a smoker, snack bar etc. Great service! :D Pete
