Where did you have your best dinner experience in BKK?

the various and tasty dishes that used to be served by street stalls on mid Sukhumvit after 2am......now (mostly) gone thanks to beautification projects (ie condo bloks, strip malls and "5" star hotels).....

In BKK soi 7 there is a series of 6-7 seafood restaurants under a big metal roof (cross corner from the infamous biergarten). Had great seafood, chili crab etc, dirt cheap.

Is that Soi 7? Near Foodland? Sorry - I'm getting lost! The row of fish restaurants I remember in that area never seemed to be open when needed....

The Winking Frog on soi 7 or 9(always get them mixed up), Sukhumvit used to do a great English breakfast but has changed hands now to non Brit owners and has become less than average. :(

I used to have these amazing chicken wraps (sort of kebab affairs) off sukumvit (soi 11 I think) they were to die for. You could never have only one...

After a few weeks in HH I hanker after some stick-to-the-ribs fare so I head to the soi 7 biergarten for roast pork, fried spuds and red cabbage washed down with cold Kloster.

Kinnaree Royal Thai food restaurant on Suk Soi 8. Romantic place with great food and service. A bit on the expensive side for Thai food but you won't see the dishes they serve there anywhere but the most upscale Thai restaurants.

We also liked Cabbages and Condoms but another good, although rather expensive, Thai restaurant is Sukhumvit House No 1 in Sukhumvit Soi 14

Good roast pork dinner at Chequers near Nana (all their food is good)
Good liver and bacon at the Beergarten Soi 7
Excellent Pork knuckle at the Beergarten
Good seafood on soi 7 (oysters included)
Good Thai food at the place down soi 6 off Sukhamvit (forgotten name)
Good fish, chips and mushies on soi 23 just before Cowboy
Excellent french/Thai fusion food at Le Delat 14/23 Sukhamvit (pricey though)

The list is endless :munch: :munch: :munch: :munch:

To answer the OP's original question it's got to be the Thai fusion restaurant at the Rembrandt hotel in soi 18 but pricey!!!!

Sirocco on top of The Dome is the best setting I've ever been in for a special occasion. Highest open air restaurant in the world they say, not too pricey either and not a formal snooty place. They have an international jazz band playing most nights too, you can just go up for a drink at the bar if you want.

Normal restaurant the seafood ones across road from Beer Garden have a good atmosphere, Gullivers Soi 5 foods always good, Tony Romas ribs.
