Funny TV & Cinema Adverts

Post by JD »

rzr put a link on another thread for the Harp, stay Sharp advert.

I thought that idea deserves a thread of it's own, so this is one advert that I'll bet most have forgotten.

Not very PC by today's standards, in fact, so wrong in so very many ways, but still very funny.

This advert must have been shown at least 30 years ago.

Ha ha JD, 'not very PC' by todays stantards, is an understatement. Never understood the PC brigade myself, think they all need to have a few more beers and a bit more s**.

While we are on the subject of 'not PC' adverts from the past and that 'Harp Lager' commercials. I'm sure I remember one of them where the guy goes into a bar and starts talking to one/two beautiful girls and after a minute or so of trying to impress them, they speak to him and they both have blokes voices/really deep and he has a  look on his face and you hear the 'time for Sharp Harp' comment and he does a :run:

You would never get away with that now.

Try watching Family Guy, the most unPC show in the world and possibly funniest.

YeahBaaBaa, seen 'Family Guy', Star Wars spoof, great when he asks "Why do they call them Thai Fighters" :lach: . Must have got Spielbergs permission though, somehow.

Thai Fighters. :thumb:

They drew over some of the Original Film cells so definitely had Lucas permission.

my faves were the old Maxell tape ads that used songs where the lyrics are less than clear

Heres my all time fave - The Skids "Into the Valley" one:

and the equally funny Desmond Decker "Israelites" one (Me Ears Are Alight)

However,

for completely bizarre advertising linkups look no further than Sugar Puffs Tizwaz inspired "Tummy Time" ads from the mid 80s.

These featured John Cooper Clarke, punk poet and full time heroin addict, with the Monster and a room full of kids....the horror, the horror.

They were going to make a third but found out who JCC actually was and withdrew the campaign. Enter the Dragon, Exit Johnny Clarke....

While we're being 'Un-PC', I heard that the PC brigade managed to get the 'goolly' banned on the marmalade jar.

Surely you have something better to do?
